10 Acts not to miss at Creamfields 2018

The UK’s premier dance festival is back for another instalment from today right through to Sunday 26th August, drawing what has been another incredible festival season in the region closer to a close.
There’s still plenty of live music to catch in the region, but none more of a spectacle than this one. One of the most iconic festivals in the world for dance fans, with a line up to rival any. But who are the must see DJs and performers? Let us help out.
Fatboy Slim
This one is a blindingly obvious must see. It’s Fatboy Slim for Pete’s sake, a legend in the industry as a whole, let alone in the DJ/EDM world. With a career that spans almost 4 decades, his tunes are part of the modern music consciousness and helped pave the way for many styles and techniques. It’s crazy that he started in 1979 because his biggest hits, like Praise You and Rockerfella Skank, sound like they could have been released yesterday. This is your chance to see a living legend live.
Eric Prydz Presents HOLO
Many of us may head down to catch Eric Prydz simply because of biggest hit, Call On Me. However, Prydz is now touring a brand new live show that is as groundbreaking as it is astounding. HOLO is his new immersive, live experience that uses hologram technology to take you to another world. There has never been anything like this and it’s not to be missed if you’re lucky enough to have opportunity to see it first hand. Check out the trailer below and if you just can’t wait, then check out the amazing fan footage on YouTube. But be warned, spoilers await.
The Chainsmokers
Possibly the most current artist on the list, The Chainsmokers are a production duo that have dominated the charts in recent years. When they’re not releasing hit single after hit single, they are collaborating with some of the biggest bands and most promising artists in the world, such as Coldplay and Halsey. Reaching the top 10 in the Billboard 100 and winning the Grammy for Best Dance Recording, these guys have just started…next stop world domination.
Idris Elba
That’s right – Luther/Heimdall/Stringer Bell is a DJ! And a damn good one at that. He is the man of the moment with all the James Bond speculation circling him, as well as having the release of his directorial debut film imminent. So, it actually seems appropriate that he continues to astound us with his endless amounts of talent on the big stage. Playing his own underground, Urban style, Elba has been adding fuel to the 007 fire by opening his sets with the iconic theme tune.
Sigma
Another production pair that couldn’t be more current, Sigma joins the bill to compete for one of the top spots on our list. Whether it’s releasing their own material featuring Pop Star after Pop Star, collaborating with other DJs such as DJ Fresh, or remixing other hits, Sigma are a chart staple as much as they are a festival staple. And, having been christened as the most uplifting DJs in the industry right now, could there be a better way to round off your summer festival season?
Chase and Status DJ Set
Creamfields is all about spectacle, and boy will Chase and Status bring that. Normally they perform with their live band, but this time they come with a DJ set. However, don’t for a second think that this will lesserthe show, as the energy and light show is a sight to behold, one that you will not be able to ignore. Their smash hit album, No More Idols, was a revelation for EDM back in 2009 and the genre has not been the same since. This is your opportunity to catch these pioneers in the flesh.
Rudimental DJ Set
Following in the footsteps of the likes of Chase And Status, Rudimental really had an impact on EDM in the mainstream with their live shows, and especially festival slots, changing the ball game for Electronic Music in the public eye. Much like Chase and Status, these folks are coming to Creamfields without their band, but with an equally awe inspiring show in tow. Brace yourself for bangers.
Stefflon Don
Fresh from her scene stealing set at LIMF 2018, we know that this is a must see because, well, we saw it first hand last month. Stefflon Don is one of the hottest artists in the world right and that was plain to see why when she was doing her thing on the Central Stage. The same reasons for why she was a must see at LIMF 2018 apply for this one, and you can check it all out here.
Annie Mac
Annie Mac in one of the most influential characters in the UK music industry at the moment, through her Radio 1 show and everything that she does for upcoming artists. It’s also great to know that such a tastemaker is a muso herself, so she fully knows what she’s talking about. Mac also knows what she’s doing behind the decks. Combine that with a proven track record of knowing what the whole country wants before they even know it themselves, and you’ve got a tour-de-force of a live DJ.
Groove Armada DJ Set
Groove Armada is more than a band/DJ duo, it is an institution. Their smash hits, I See You Baby and Superstylin’, are part of the fabric of our pop culture, through adverts, film, compilations and the club scene. Creamfields will be transformed in to a late 1990s/early 2000s warehouse rave when this pair take to the stage over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.
From musical institutions to actors, from legends of the art form to innovation and the next big thing, Creamfields continues to show us why it’s one of the best, and most iconic festivals in the world.
