Easter is just around the corner so it’s time to start planning some days out with the family.
There is so much to keep the kids busy this summer around the region.

Going on a Bear Hunt (Southport Market, 18th – 19th April)

Join Stan Rosie and the baby on an adventure through the snow, mud and a long tunnel to find the bear.
The new interactive show Going on a Bear hunt is fun for all the family, and you can also enjoy some food and drinks from the outlets in the market. There are a variety of shows to choose from over the two days.

Southport Bijou Cinema (Throughout Easter)

From classic flicks like Jungle Book and Robin Hood, to a singalong version of Wicked, there is a film for everyone at this gorgeous one of a kind venue.

Southport Marine Lake (Throughout Easter)

The 140 acre purpose built lake has been a haven of fun for visitors and locals alike since the 19th Century.
Its landscaped promenades and lush gardens are perfect for a gentle walk or if you prefer, you can mess about on the water in jet boats and pedalos.

Take the family for a round of crazy golf for £5.

The Wizard of Oz (The Atkinson, Southport, 19th April_

This fun stage version of the classic story of Dorothy’s journey features dance routines, comedy and music.
Dorothy needs to find her way home, but it’s not going to be easy with the Wicked Witch of the West keeping a close eye on her. Will the Great and Powerful Oz be able to help?
There are shows at 2pm and 6pm.
Tickets cost£17 / £15 for concessions and £60 for a family of four (minimum one adult).

Aardman presents Lloyd of the Flies Wetland Bug Hunt (Martin Mere, Burscough, 5th April – 1st June)

Dive into the wonderful world of wetland insects with Lloyd and his new friend Dart the dragonfly.
Follow the trail to help Lloyd and tour guide Dart the dragonfly find Lloyd’s friends and family and make their way to the bug hotel.
Taking part in the Lloyd of the Flies Wetland Bug Hunt activities is included in the price of a WWT admission ticket or is free to WWT members.

Family Carvery Extravaganza (Formby Hall, 20th April)

Enjoy a three-course carvery, family entertainment, Easter arts and crafts and a special visit from Peter Rabbit.

Formby beach and squirrel reserve (Throughout Easter)

Enjoy one of the best beaches in the region in Formby, and you might catch sight of a red squirrel too if you get there early before the crowds.
Parking is limited in the area due to work on the car park so jump on the train to Freshfield and take the short walk to the beach.
Pack a picnic or pop into Forni café or The Kiosk for a snack before taking the train home.
