10 family-friendly restaurants to eat outside in Liverpool

Getting round the table to enjoy a meal is a great way for families to spend time together, and even better when we can eat out again and enjoy some fab restaurants around the city.

There are lots of family-friendly places where we can dine outside right now, and here are 10 waiting to welcome us back.

Pippin’s Corner, Lark Lane

It’s got tons of freshly-made homecooked dishes, super salads and one of the most extensive children’s menus you’ll find – and yes, it comes on separate sheet with jokes, quizzes and fun things to do to keep the little people entertained. There’s plenty of bench-style seating outside – and did we mention the gorgeous cake?

The Quarter, Falkner Square

The Quarter has got the prettiest pavement seating area with heating for when it gets a little cooler. You can watch the world go by while enjoying something from the grill, pizzas or pasta. The kids’ menu includes a drink, breadsticks, a main (pizzas and pasta) and ice cream for £6.50.

The Old Stables – Allerton Manor Golf Club

The Old Stables

One to get you galloping out…Built on the former stable block and courtyard, The Old Stables Restaurant has become a firm favourite as a family-friendly restaurant with classic British dishes, and a great three course menu for the under 12s at £10. The outside terrace area is the perfect spot to enjoy time together, surrounded by gorgeous greenery and colourful blooms.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Paradise Street

We all love a burger and these are some of the best in the city with 100% 6oz British prime beef patties (along with vegan versions of course). The younger members of the family can enjoy a kids’ meal for £6.95 with a little burger (Cheeseburger, chicken or vegan burger) along with a small side, drink and ice cream (for an extra £1) and there’s a great outdoor seating area with a cool cosmopolitan feel.

Gino D’Acampo, Castle Street

The sun is shining and the great Italian chef is ready to say ciao to diners at his fab summer terrace. There’s plenty of seats outside on the great Castle Street corner plot, and you can book for up to four people so that’s the family reservation sorted – and the ‘Bambino Menu’ filled with pasta and pizza dishes, chicken, fish, and great desserts will do the rest for a fab meal out.

Tavern & Co, Penny Lane

There’s pavement seating outside but space is limited so, with a place so popular, you’re advised to get booking now. Not surprisingly voted Liverpool’s Most Family Friendly restaurant, it’s always a hit with mums and dads, and little people. The menu is chocka with home-made Mexican dishes and it has one of the best breakfasts around. The kids’ menu includes everything from BBQ ribs to a fish finger sandwich or pizza bagel.

Gusto Italian Liverpool

You’ll find it hard to beat the view at this fabulous dockside Italian, sitting by the water where you can watch the boats bobbing about on the water (something to occupy the kids too!). The menu’s a treat with classic pasta and pizzas as well as scrumptious salads, chicken, fish and steak dishes, and there’s a great children’s menu too. There are plenty of tables for Al Fresco dining but it can get chilly even when the sun is shining so wrap up…and buon appetito!

What’s Cooking, Albert Dock

Another great place overlooking the water with outdoor seating is What’s Cooking.  There’s a limited menu at the moment but that still includes the kids’ menu at £5.95 which offers a burger, cheeseburger, ribs or hotdog, with fries for £5.95. It’s walk-ins only for now, bookings from May 17, but there’s lots of tables so you should be okay.

Rudy’s Pizza, Castle Street

Another restaurant making the most of Liverpool Without Walls. There’s plenty of seating on the pavement and, if you like your pizza authentic, just like they make them in Naples, then Rudy’s is the place to head for al fresco eating – and who in the household doesn’t like pizza?

Smoke & Dough

Antipasti, pizzas and gorgeous grills are all being served on the terrace outside Smoke & Dough in Liverpool One. Kids can eat with you or choose from the Kids Menu with pizza from ÂŁ4.99, or the Banto Box at ÂŁ6.99 with Mac n Cheese, Chicken Nuggets, Mini Burger, French Fries, Baked Beans and more.
