10 Christmas markets and events you can visit across the city region this Winter

Halloween and Bonfire Night are all done and dusted – so it’s time to start getting in the Christmas spirit.
Whether you like markets, festive films, afternoon tea or even a spot of wine tasting, there are a host of events taking place in and around Merseyside in the build up to Christmas Day.
Here are ten of the best festive warm-ups.
Seasonal Artisan Market, Southport Market
Join PMM Events and more than 30 local independent makers at Southport Market’s Extravaganza Space on Saturday 18th November for an extra special day of Christmas Shopping.
It will be a day filled with shopping, relaxing, eating and drinking – perfect to start your festive shopping.
There will be textiles, jewellery, crafts, candles, homeware, gifts and more.
The market will take place from 11am – 4pm and entry is free.

Festive films at Bijou cinema, Southport
Bijou has showings of It’s a Wonderful Life, and White Christmas, modern classics like Home Alone, Elf, The Holiday and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and much more.
If you haven’t been to Bijou before it is a unique cinema experience and watching a festive flick here will really put you in the mood for the holidays.

Festive Afternoon Tea at The Grand, Southport
Indulge in a festive afternoon tea at this gorgeous Southport venue, that will be decked out spectacularly for the season.
Enjoy cranberry and orange scones, turkey and cranberry sandwiches, lemon and poppy seed cake and much more.
The afternoon tea is priced at £25 per person and £30 if you upgrade to a glass of fizz or festive mulled wine.

Christmas at Kiosk Coffee, Freshfield
This cute, family run coffee joint is one of our favourites and sitting right beside Freshfield train station is east to reach.
Kiosk is hosting three Christmas market days with stalls, mince pies and coffee. Pick up a treat, enjoy your coffee then wander up to the beach for a refreshing winter walk.

Queen’s Road Social Gift Wrapping Workshop, Formby
The luxury gift wrapping workshop with Gift Wrap Genie, will take place on 28th November from 6-7.30pm.
Tickets cost £30 and include mince pies and mulled wine.
The workshop includes tips and tricks to wrap beautiful gifts, including how to tie the perfect bow.

Festive afternoon tea at Arthur’s of Aughton
Fancy afternoon tea with a difference?
Arthur’s of Aughton is offering all the Christmas feels with this special event on 10th December from 12 noon – 3pm.
You can enjoy Champagne on arrival, festive canapes, a selection of sandwiches, tea and coffee and desserts at this cosy and classy bar. And with its location right beside Town Green station on the Ormskirk line it is easy to reach, and you can leave the car at home and enjoy a glass of festive fizz.

Carr Farm Christmas Open Evening and Christmas Choir, Wirral
The special open evening on 10th November will see 10 per cent off decorations, lights, and trees.
There will be complimentary food and drinks, and a live singer to add to the festive atmosphere.
On 17th November, the Birkenhead Operatic Society will be performing in aid of St John’s Wirral Hospice to get you in the Christmas spirit.
Tickets for the choir night are £5 and food and refreshment will be available to buy.

Christmas Extravaganza, Brimstage Farm and Maze, Wirral
There will be Christmas celebrations at Brimstage on the weekend of 1st-3rd December in conjunction with Brimstage Hall Courtyard.
Expect brass bands, choirs, school singing groups.

Christmas Wine Tasting, Future Yard, Birkenhead
Enjoy the taste of Christmas with a festive wine wasting upstairs at Future Yard, hosted by Inspiring Wines.
Try seven wines plus nibbles and some music, and pick out your Christmas wines in a fun, relaxed, and festive atmosphere.
Don’t worry if you don’t know anything about wine – this is for everyone.
All the wines will be available to buy afterwards, so stick around to find the right one for you.

Dress Your Tree, Bents Garden Centre, Warrington
Bents has one of the best selections of Christmas trees and decorations in the area and their Dress Your Tree event will really show you how to decorate in style.
Enjoy a mince pie and mulled wine while the experts show you how to make your home come alive this festive season.
You can learn how to dress your tree on 8th and 22nd November from 6pm and tickets cost £10.
