10 places serving breakfast outside in Liverpool
4 years ago
Now we can get out and about, it’s good to start the day early, and for that you need a great brekkie.
There’s nothing like a full English or a plate of syrupy pancakes to get us set up for the day …and here’s 10 places with outdoor seating areas serving up that early morning treat.
East River
Back for brunch and more, its Secret Garden is open from 10am, so you can tuck into everything from a healthy granola or smoothie bowl, brilliant bagels or a stack of pancakes. They’ve got a collection of breakfast trays for £10 – with vegan options of course – and mouthwatering brunch dishes like Lamb Shakshuka, salmon and egg or, sounds delicious, Chorizo Scramble.
The Brunch Club, Duke Street
They reckon their heated terrace is the best place to relax – and who are we to argue with that? It’s also one of the best places to get a host of breakfast and brunch classics, and for us it’s got to be their Breakfast Board with mini birchir or granola pot, poached egg on toast, smashed avocado and beetroot relish. There’s no stopping anyone after that, and they start serving nice and early from 8am.
Potts Coffee, Slater Street
Potts isn’t opening fully until May 17 but this little gem is still open for takeout and delivery at weekends – and it’s got outdoor seating so now you can sit outside too while you watch the waking world go by. It’s open Saturday 9.30am-4pm, and Sunday from 10am-4pm. It’s got a vegan full English, porridge with maple syrup and berries and an amazing range of sweet or savoury pancakes.
Bean There Coffee Shop, Smithdown Road
Are you partial to avocado on toast with poached egg and feta for breakfast, or perhaps a salmon brunch bagel … or what about topped toasted banana bread? Sound delicious right? And you’ll find these and more great breakfast dishes being served at Bean There on the corner of Smithdown and Penny Lane between 8am and 3pm.
The Tavern Co, Smithdown Road
The Tavern is famous for its breakfasts, let’s face it, who could say no to its award-winning full English, with two Lincolnshire sausages, two rashers of lean back bacon, fried egg, black pudding, grilled tomato, sautéed mushrooms, baked beans and toast? Or Eggs Avocado, its Boston bagel with cream cheese and smoked, streaky bacon, or its American pancakes…You get the picture, they do the lot! It’s always packed so book a table to guarantee your early morning outdoor feast from 9am.
Bold Street Coffee, Bold Street
BSC have taken the words right out of our mouths! “After a long few months we are finally allowed to sit down and enjoy a coffee and brunch! Our outdoor tables are back in action and we can’t wait to see you all enjoying the sun here.” So what are you waiting for, it’s business as usual between 10am and 4pm. Seasoned smashed avocado, mixed seeds and drizzled with sriracha for that extra kick is one of its tasty ‘on toast’ options and there’s a new guest coffee from Blossom.
Rough Hand Made, Royal Albert Dock
The bakers here have been making us drool with the pictures they’ve been posting of buttery croissants and golden pastries. They haven’t got tables and chairs, or plates or cutlery…but they have got coffee and the most amazing homebaked buns and pastries which you can eat out of the paper bag on one of the benches outside. It’s the simple pleasures…
Space Coffee & Restaurant, Aigburth Road
This Aigburth Road coffee shop has created a new outdoor space so you don’t have to miss its good-feel vibe and relaxed atmosphere any more. Its cosy courtyard is open from 9am until 9pm, and serving breakfast until 4pm, with all your faves like a full English, out of this world pancakes and the best poached eggs (lovely and runny) for miles around.
Hafla Hafla, Lark Lane
Bookings for the outdoor seating area are now open for this great Middle Eastern-inspired indie restaurant/shop. It’s open 12noon-9pm weekdays and 10am-9pm Saturday and Sunday, so you can sit out in the lane enjoying your Hafla favourites, which we’re guessing includes their veggie full English with falafel, potato hash, scrambled egg, halloumi, mushrooms and homemade beans.
Delifonseca Dockside
One of the best breakfast menus. Along with the Dockers’ Breakfast and Deli Veggie Breakfast, you can choose from other goodies like Huevos Rancheros, a large open tortilla, salsa, avocado, two over easy fried eggs, mature cheddar, tomato, beans, coriander, Atkins & Potts chipotle chilli jam; loaded croissants, and a super green frittata. There’s many more dishes of course. The hardest thing is choosing – but the eating is so very easy! Bookings only, and breakfast is served between 9.30am and 11.45am.
