10 Things to do on a rainy weekend in Liverpool

The great British Summer time weather is having a bit of a mare, so we’ve lined up a weekend in Liverpool that everyone can enjoy, rain or shine.

What is going on with the weather? We’re leaving the house with brollies and coats and sweating cobs by dinner time! Luckily the weekend is upon us and if you’re looking for a fun family day out, date night idea or a nice bite to eat and top class pint, we’ve got you sorted. It’s also the perfect time to head to the flicks and lose yourself in a blockbuster film. Scroll down for our top cinema pics.

Here’s 10 activities to check out this weekend in Liverpool, 5 for the kids, 5 more for the bigger kids….

For The Kids

Knowsley Safari

Take a walk on the wild side in your wellies this weekend! Alongside the 5 mile safari drive, Knowsley Safari offers families the chance to get up close to meerkats, Amur Tigers, Giraffes and more on its Foot Safari Experience. There’s also animal displays (we LOVE Biffo the sea lion!) and more than 80 brand new LEGO brick animals to discover. Info here.

Liverpool  Museums

The Guide Liverpool

Our city is bursting with interactive, fun, education and most importantly – free to enter museums and galleries. This weekend you can join in Rhyme Time at the Walker Art Gallery, Explore the Cosmos at World Museum, make badges at Museum of Liverpool and get bands on with Border Control at Merseyside Maritime Museum. Full what’s on listings here.

Spring City

Burning off stem has never been so much fun! Spring City is the saviour of rainy days with kids. Situated on Brunswick Dock, just a 5 minute drive from the city centre, this state of the art trampoline park encourages kids to bounce til their little hearts are content. Dodge ball, hoops, plunge pit and a cafe for us adults to watch and enjoy a coffee. Latest offers here.

Mattel Play!

A visit to the Royal Albert Dock is a day out in itself and younger kids will be thrilled with a trip to Mattel Play! Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam and Thomas the Tank Engine line up to transport your kids from the dock to the heart of their favourite cartoons. Climb aboard Jupiter the fire engine, take a ride around Sodor with Thomas and help Bob get his house building skills up to scratch, all under one roof. We also highly rate the cafe for food too! More info here.

ODEON Liverpool ONE

Uglydolls, Dora & The Lost City of Gold, Horrible Histories 2, Playmobile The Movie, Spiderman Far From Home and The Lion King make up your family viewing offering at ODEON Liverpool ONE this weekend. What will you watch? Full listings here.

For The Big Kids

Liverpool is spoiled for choice when it comes to bars with extras! Woah hang on we meant like pool and ping pong! You’ll find Roxy Ball Room on both College Lane at Liverpool ONE and the newest venue, Rainford Square, just off Mathew Street. The latter boasts two floors and adds ten pin bowling to the offering. Great deals on ale and beer pong to keep it flowing.

Everyman Cinema

weekend in Liverpool

Based at The Metquarter, Everyman Cinema has totally changed our experience of watching films on the big screen. Book yourself a super comfy sofa, order your drinks, snacks and meals to your seat and settle down to watch Tarrantino’s 9th epic motion picture – Once Upon A Time in Hollywood staring Leo Dicaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and loads more. It’s AMAZING! More info here.

With the sheer amount of food and drink on offer at the Baltic Market, it would be well easy to pitch up at lunch time and stay all day!
