Spring has sprung, and the city is full of Easter themed fun for us all to enjoy over the long bank holiday weekend. From ways to burn off the mountain of chocolate we’ll consume, to how to make the most of our gorgeous city, we’ve listed a few of our favourites:
1) Liverpool Food & Drink Spring Festival, Sefton Park Saturday & Sunday
We’ve been dreaming about food comas and shouting about this for weeks. Sefton park will be taken over by the spring food & drink festival and we cannot wait! From mouthwatering burgers to chic macaroons & artisan gins & craft beers, there is something to wet everyone’s appetite. Along with a kids village, live music from local artists & food demonstrations it’s sure to be a fab weekend. Tickets available online HERE.
2) Farmer Teds, Ormskirk
If you’ve recovered from Octobers Farmageddon it’s definitely worth a trip out to Farmer Teds. Prepare for a day full of “awww”s and “ohhhhh”s as there are plenty of spring new arrivals to see. Fluffy lambs, pink piglets and even alpacas are roaming around the farm. Along with all of the usual farm fun there’s outdoor playgrounds, tractor rides & indoor soft play.
3) Special Easter Cathedral Services
Liverpool is lucky enough to have two spectacular cathedrals and both, of course, are holding special services over the Easter weekend to help us remember the true meaning of Easter. From Good Friday to Easter Sunday both the Anglican & Metropolitan have special services for all to attend. Find more information here:
From the 14th-17th April Cadbury are taking over the grounds of the National Trusts Speke Hall for an eggs-tra special egg hunt. Between 10:30-16:00 you can explore the ancient woodland and receive a chocolatey treat at the end. No booking is necessary and there is a small fee of £2 per entrant for the hunt. Plan your day HERE.
5) Easter Pantos
Throughout Merseyside there are 3 different Easter pantos running over the holidays. If the weather takes a turn for the worse an afternoon of family fun is sure to be had. From ‘Freezin’ at Port Sunlight, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at St Helen’s Theatre Royal & ‘Sleeping Beauty’ at the Epstein Theatre. We caught up with Nikki Grahame at St Helens Theatre Royal as you can see above, and caught Tina Malone & Lee Brennan at the Epstein, below.
6) Easter Sunday lunch
Old Stables Sunday Roast
Easter Sunday lunch is a close second to Christmas dinner in our eyes, and there is so much choice in our gorgeous city. From veggie delights to delicious legs of lamb our Best Roast dinner guide will have something for everyone.
7) Cycle hire
Why not head off on an adventure on one of the many city bikes to help burn off any extra Easter indulgences? Our favourite route is down through Otterspool prom with gorgeous views across the Mersey. Remember to always take care, use the cycle lanes and prepare for lots of fun on two wheels. Pick up points online HERE.
8) Liverpool ONE
Rio Olympic Spirit Arrives At Liverpool ONE – The Guide Liverpool
Spring is in full swing at Liverpool One over the easter holidays with rides and attractions for the little ones, special lego workshops for small & big kids alike, and a special ‘pay your age’ manicure for the little ladies at the Beauty Bazaar. There’s also loads of food offers on at the restaurants and a special nature trail in Chavasse Park. More information online HERE.
9) Wacky World, Exhibition Centre
Okay, so this one looks flipping amazing. A real life 30,000sq foot wacky world is coming to the exhibition centre from 17-19th April. There’s a 65ft Assault course, giant ball pool, human wrecking ball, vertical drop slide and so so so much more! Some sessions have already sold out so it’s worth booking soon. We are green with envy that this is a under 14s event (but imagine how shattered the kids will be afterwards? Bliss!) tickets online here: https://www.ticketquarter.co.uk/online/wacky-world-tickets#
10) City Sights Bus Tours
Be your own version of the Easter Bunny by HOPPING on & off the City Sights bus tour! Being a tourist in your on city is always a fun (and inexpensive!) day out and we think one of the best ways to see Liverpool in all its glory is on the top deck of the open top city sights bus! Every time we go we learn something new, take silly selfies next to Liverpool landmarks & loved seeing the excitement on legitimate tourists faces. Catch the bus on the pier head or find out more online HERE.
