The sun’s shining and we can’t wait to get back outside and enjoy a bite to eat with friends at these top Wirral restaurants with outside spaces.
April 12 is the big day when restaurants with outdoor space can reopen and welcome us all back once again and, with bookings getting busy, it might be a good idea to make a reservation now.
In need of a few ideas? Then here are 10 restaurants on the Wirral where you’ll be able to get yourself an outdoor table soon …
Hickory’s Smokehouse, West Kirby
They’re firing up the smokers ready for reopening! Southern style smokehouse Hickory’s is getting ready to swing open its doors again on Monday, April 12 so you can load up on all your favourite BBQ classics and soul food specials. The guys are running the full menu (apart from brunch) and doors open from 11am until late so you’ll have plenty of outdoor options from West Kirby’s famous sunny terrace.
Habbibi, New Brighton
Habibi is one of New Brighton’s brightest culinary stars thanks to its great styling, soundtrack and menu of Middle Eastern-inspired small plates, and it can’t wait to bring the shine back into eating out from April 12. It’s counting down the days to outdoor dining (with heated areas), table service, the same fantastic menu, great cocktails and DJs and bands.
Sheldrakes, Heswall
As views go it’s hard to beat the one across the River Dee and Welsh Hills from Sheldrakes’ Terrace. Add to that its award-winning chefs offering traditional and Mediterranean dishes, and this has got to be one of the most idyllic spots for dining outdoors. Sheldrakes say they don’t have a reopening date just yet but add to ‘keep an eye out as we will be announcing and taking bookings soon’. So get ready.
Woodside Ferry Village
Prepare for some serious terrace time and world class views at Wirral’s independent food hub. You can choose from a mouth-watering variety of food from Thai, traditional, Italian and even Japanese and soak up the stunning views across the Mersey from the incredible rooftop terrace. If you’re a bit nesh the team are advising you to take a blanket and or even cuddle up with your furry friend (they are super dog-friendly here). There’ll be full table service, with food items ordered direct via the Uber Eats app and the bar team will be on hand to keep you supplied with your favourite tipple!
Opening times for food are Wednesday to Saturday from midday to 8pm, Sunday, midday – 7pm and the bar is open until late. For more info go to www.woodsideferryvillage.co.uk or to book email info@woodsideferryvillage.co.uk
The Burnt Truffle, Heswall
With a superb special menu, The Burnt Truffle is taking bookings for its beautiful terrace so you can dine in style under the cover of its pagoda (and enjoy its outdoor heating). Bookings are being taken for The Terrace between April 15 and May 16. It will be open Thursday to Sunday, as well as the early May bank holiday, between 12 and 8pm. Additional tables will be available for walk-ins in the uncovered section on a first-come-first-served basis.
The Shippons, Irby
Reopening the doors on April 12 with its improved courtyard area, it’s also had a new stage built outdoors for tons of planned live music and band nights, the first one being on St George’s Day, April 23. It’s creating a special menu which will be available until May 17 along with afternoon tea, and it will start serving breakfasts again on May 17.
107 Dining Room, Heswall
107 is ‘excited’ to be opening its lovely garden area, with beautiful shrubs and gorgeous, colourful blooms, from April 15, Thursdays to Sunday from 11am till late – but not half as excited as we are! Because of weather uncertainties it’s offering a limited ‘garden grazer’ menu with cold food platters and locally-sourced pies initially and bookings should be made over the phone – 0151 342 3420 – from April 13.
The Trappist House, Hoylake
All repaired after a little wind damage, its lovely outdoor space is fully covered for wet days and opened to the elements on warm, sunny ones. The Belgian-inspired brasserie and kitchen in Market Street has got plenty of wooden bench seats and tables – and heaters for those chillier days. They recommend booking for tables of up to six, but walk-ups are welcome too. Email info@trappisthouse.com or call 0151 633 2518.
Silk Road, Heswall
Offering tapas and meze from the Pacific to the Mediterranean, Silk Road is taking bookings for its private roof terrace for April 12 and beyond. It’s promising new dishes and drinks too ‘so keep your eyes peeled for more announcements’ and look forward to enjoying great food on its fab, elevated ‘grassed’ seating area.
Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa
Kick back and relax and enjoying dining outdoors from April 12 in the gardens of Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa. Pre-booking should ensure you a gazebo-covered table from which you can order from its new Al Fresco Dining on The Lawns menu which includes lots of nice nibbles and platters just perfect for spring, as well as a selection of starters, mains and desserts.
