11 brilliant Liverpool venues that opened in 2022
2 years ago
It’s no surprise Liverpool is one of the most-visited cities in the UK, with so much to see and do – and the list’s growing longer all the time.
This year was a great one for Liverpool with lots of launches in the world of retail and restaurants, including this superb line-up…
Gaucho
The award-winning steak restaurant finally opened its doors in the city, with celebs including ex-footie players Ian Rush and Peter Reid, Dr Ranj Singh and Jennifer Ellison waiting to greet it at its launch at No 7 Water Street. The company’s invested a seven-figure sum to renovate the Grade II-listed building and create a stunning interior with a real wow factor, which more than matches the superb service and supreme steak experience.
Seel St Venue
Seel St Venue is a fab new nightclub in the heart of the Ropewalks area. Owned by the same people as Castle Street Townhouse, it’s got great themed nights – like Latin night on Friday, Notorious Saturdays with resident DJ Vinnie Spears sharing some R ‘n’ B vibes, and student night on Thursday with a round for five pound – creative cocktails, a dance floor it wants to get everybody up on, and a distinctly tropical vibe.
Tonight Josephine
At more than 8,000 sq feet, Tonight Josephine is the biggest of the brand’s cocktail bars and party places yet. The venue, famed for its themed bottomless brunches, hot pink interiors and lavish cocktails, opened in Hanover Street in October. With the mantra ‘well-behaved women don’t make history’ it’s set for celebrations and loads of late-night events.
Radisson RED
The first Radisson RED hotel in the North of England arrived in Liverpool in the beautifully renovated Grade-II listed Great Western Hall in Lime Street. A culinary destination thanks to its modern barbecue and robata grill restaurant, Stoke, it boasts a whole new hotel experience which puts guests in control – and while the design-focused 10-storey hotel is home to bespoke works of art, it also boasts amazing views of St George’s Hall.
Co.Co Castle St
Co.Co is a new speciality coffee and cocktail venue on Castle Street in Liverpool. Serving fresh coffee and delicious fresh pastries from local independent bakers from 10am, it transforms into a relaxing and inviting bar at night offering expertly made cocktails.
Flannels
Flannels unveiled its new flagship Liverpool store in the former Owen Owen Building, offering city shoppers a taste of luxury. The venue fuses an elite fashion experience with high-end names including Gucci and Burberry, as well as Prada, Christian Louboutin, Balenciaga, and more. And as well as retail, it also offers dining and leisure experiences including stylish restaurant Bacino, a rooftop bar and brasserie, and a fitness studio.
Hooters
In spite of initial doubts about the famous American sports restaurant and bar launching in the city, Hooters says it’s been given a warm welcome by the people of Liverpool. Officially recognised as the world’s biggest Hooters, the Water Street venue in the old Newz Bar seats 300 and, helped perhaps by the opening coinciding with the start of the World Cup, it’s already becoming one of the popular places to catch live action.
Albert’s Schloss
Party palace Albert’s Schloss arrived just in time for Christmas with a Bold Street home for the Bavarian-style bierhouse. Occupying the former food market at Radiant House, the Alpine-themed venue is all comfy and cosy with an inspired menu – think breakfast bagels and classic cook haus goats cheese and courgette fritters, as well as hearty Stiegl ‘bier-battered’ fish and chips – and entertainment with live music and cabaret action seven days a week.
Hawksmoor
Ranked number one in the ‘World’s Best Steak Restaurants’, Hawksmoor is famous for its charcoal grilled, 35-day dry aged steaks, award-winning cocktails, and spectacular interiors, and we were delighted to welcome it to Liverpool this November. Housed in the iconic Grade II-listed India Buildings, the restaurant founded by childhood friends Will Beckett and Huw Gott changed steakhouse standards, and serves a spectacular steak menu and award-winning cocktails, in a rich and luxurious setting.
Rudy’s Albert Dock
Once voted 10th best pizza restaurant in the world, Rudy’s is slowly taking over Liverpool with not one, not two, but three Rudy’s Pizza places. Already open in Castle Street and Bold Street, its latest restaurant selling fresh Neopolitan pizzas, is in the Royal Albert Dock.
So Salsa Castle St
Great to see another family-run restaurant adding to the mix of eateries on Castle Street, this time offering quality fresh tapas dishes from cuisines across the globe, not just Spain. It’s a homegrown success story too, So Salsa first opened its doors in 2010 in Crosby, and over the last decade the restaurant has grown in popularity leading to a new chapter and the second So Salsa creating a new fun and friendly vibe in the city and aiming to always exceed customer expectations.
