We’re not sure who decided this Friday was ‘National Picky Bits Day’, but who doesn’t love the chance to tuck into all their favourite flavours and tastiest treat foods all in one sitting?!
There are loads of great Liverpool restaurants serving delicious tapas and sharing foods and platters that are ideal for those get-togethers with a group of mates…
Palm Court Bar at Municipal Hotel & Spa

You can enjoy the luxurious Miami-style surroundings in the central atrium of this Dale Street hotel, and a gorgeous menu which has got loads of delicious nibbles – including Moroccan-style hummus with toasted pitta bread and warm focaccia with honey and truffle butter melt – and small plates, like salt & pepper squid with aioli, Korean sesame crispy chicken, and ‘Scouse’ locally-reared lamb croquettes.

San Carlo

Start your meal the authentic Italian way at this chic Castle Street restaurant or just enjoy a sumptuous sharing platter with a glass of wine or a classic cocktail. We’re loving its San Carlo Antipasto with a large platter of the best antipasto, and its Frittura di Pesce Portofino, with deep fried calamari, prawns, scampi and scallops served with tartare sauce and chilli mayonnaise. Posh picky bits!

El Gato Negro Tapas

El Gato Negro’s moved to Castle Street and it’s got a lovely outdoor seating area so if you want you can enjoy its small plates menu al fresco. There are too many favourites to mention from its meat, fish, bread, vegetable and charcuterie collections – although if we were pushed we’d maybe say its Catalan Chorizo, mini Catalan chorizo with Aspall cider – but popular with everyone is its three for £20 offer, Monday to Friday.

Pen Factory
There’s a great new menu at the recently taken over Hope Street bistro and as well as some truly tasty starters that are spot on for nibbly bites too – whitebait, hummus and bread, and croquettes – we can recommend their Deli Board for two, with a trio of charcuterie, pickles, grapes, apple, crostini and bread.

Love Lane Brewery

It’s had a refurb and a little bit of love lavished on it to create an altogether cosier Love Lane venue in the Baltic and on its new menu you’ll find a freshly-cooked dish that’s just the thing to go with your favourite pint. For variety, we like the Brewers Platter To Share, with Mrs Kirkham Cheese, pork sausage roll, house baked focaccia, pork Scotch egg, cured meat, and chutney.

1931 – Hope Street

A lovely neighbourhood restaurant serving hand-stretched pizza, pasta, salads and sharing boards. As well as its individual appetisers, you’ll love the Mezze Board with artichoke, aubergine, roasted peppers, falafel, olives, roasted tomatoes, sun-dried tomato hummus, and flatbread, and its Mixed Antipasti Board with mortadella, coppa, salami, picante sausage, gorgonzola, parmesan, balsamic glaze, and flatbread.

Maray

With its Middle Eastern small plates menu Maray has become a huge favourite with restaurants at both the Albert Dock and Bold Street … its Disco Cauliflower is the stuff of legends! You can choose from any of its small plates – falafel, fried chicken, crispy sea bass, oyster mushroom shawarma, and more – or to make it easy, what about its Mezze Sharer, with olives, hummus, za’alook, whipped goat’s cheese, and cauliflower bhajis?

Lunyalita

Serrano ham, albondigas, calamari and stuffed piquillo peppers are just some of the dishes you might choose from this Catalonian tapas favourite at Albert Dock’s Britannia Pavilion, but again, we’d trust Lunyalita to put together the best platters to share, like the Giant Mixed Deli Plank with a huge selection of cheese, meat, chorizo sausage roll, Catalan pâté, dip, crisps, salads, snacks, salad and breadsticks.

Ginger at Duke Street Market

Inspired by travels across Southeast Asia and beyond, Ginger brings the vibrant flavours and cultures of the region to life. It’s always a go-to for its ramen dishes and katsu bowls, but its small plate offerings like vegetable spring rolls, crispy king prawns, Korean cauliflower bites, and salt & pepper chicken bites are idea for a self-made table buffet.

Bacaro

Offering small plates from meat, fish and veggie dishes to little pizzas, breads and desserts, you’ll rarely see this Castle Street restaurant anything other than full and the vibe is always chilled. A few suggestions? How about its braised beef croquettes, its arancini, or its goats cheese pearls, honey, and walnuts crostini?

Mowgli

Indian street food at its best, and with its Street Food Shared Menu you get to try a few of its most popular dishes like its Yoghurt Chat Bombs, crisp bread puffs filled with chickpeas, spiced yoghurt, tamarind & coriander; its fenugreek kissed fries; an assortment of three ‘pot luck’ curries with rice, and roti breads (and you even get salted caramel ice cream for dessert).
