We’ve been waiting for a Rudy’s for ages, and this Castle Street pizzeria and bar was SO worth the wait! National chain Rudy’s was voted the best pizza restaurant in the UK, and now they’re brining fresh, authentic Naples style pizza to the Scouse masses. Dash Restaurant & Bar opened in Autumn 2018, breathing not only new life, but pure, unadulterated decadence into the former Living Room and Sugar Hut venue on Victoria Street. The restaurant menu features Pan Asian influenced dishes and small plates, while the bar will serve spirits and beers alongside Dash’s signature New York-themed cocktail list. Find out more here.
Following a £1m renovation, The Liverpool Gin Distillery brought 5 floors of all things gin to Castle Street in November 2018. The distillery offers three gin experiences involving distillery tours, gin tasting and gin making, alongside two bars where visitors can relax, eat and drink. This is a Liverpool bar like no other. The former First National threw open its beautifully restored James St doors in February as The Old Bank. Built in 1920 the bar now offers a varied gastropub food menu, an island style main bar, two floors of booths and all the sporting action on TV’s around the venue. More info here.
There’s a whole host of 5 star reviews for newly opened Rocket & Ruby, Castle Street since it welcomed us into its bright, vibrant kitchen and bar space in November. It’s all about Thai Street Food at Liverpool ONE’s latest bar and Thaikhun. From the creators of neighbouring restaurant Chayophraya, Thaikhun Street Bar offers serve a menu of upmarket cocktails using select Thai spirits, Singha draught beers, frozen cocktails, as well as a non-alcoholic menu and ice-cream smoothies. The Cain’s Brewery Village has a HUGE new Irish bar in the form of Punch Tarmey’s which welcomed us all with a pint and a song in August 2018. The spacious Liverpool bar is perfect for groups, there’s live music on, the food is ace and the toilets are spotless. We like it so much, we even kicked off our Christmas do there! The final phase of the three part Lock & Key venture, the hotel, was completed in December 2018 and it knocked our socks off. Lock & Key Bar & Kitchen serves up amazing cocktails, gins, Neapolitan pizzas and mouth-watering brunch dishes and now the brand new 14 bedroom boutique hotel, with its impeccable attention to detail, is without doubt the icing on the cake. Based on the elements, this little oasis in the heart of the city offers live music, beautiful, stylish décor, attentive, knowledgeable staff and phenomenal cocktails. Offering a warm welcome, delicious, freshly brewed coffee and locally sourced ingredients for its brunch and light bites menu, Peaberry Coffee House & Kitchen opened at Royal Albert Dock in September. We love the chunky butties and the Brazilian coffee beans that give us our morning boost. Eat in or take away, check it out here.
You can dine Spanish style all year round now as Lunyalita raised a toast to summer when it opened in July and brought authentic, seriously delicious tapas, wines and lots of gin to the Royal Albert Dock.
