If you’re going out partying in the run-up to the big day, you might as well get in the festive mood with these Christmas cocktails.

Liverpool’s bars and restaurants have been getting creative with some special seasonal shakes and stirs this year and come up with some absolute beauties.

Maray – Barefoot to Dundee

Because it’s the law that chocolate can be eaten any way, any time over Christmas, those clever Maray guys have found a way to get everyone’s favourite triangular chocolate Toblerone into a festive drink. And because that isn’t enough indulgence in one glass, it’s got Baileys, gold rum, cacao, honey, almond milk and double cream too. Available at Maray Albert Dock, Bold Street and Allerton Road.

Only fair to pay a little drink homage to the big fella himself, and Shipping Forecast’s done just that with its cute (but with a clout) Jammy Santa shots. Gusto – Gingerbread Espresso Martini

Liverpool does love an espresso martini – when we fancy a break from all the Pornstars obviously – and Gusto has mixed up the perfect Christmas twist to make a seasonal super-Instagram-worthy tipple. Its Gingerbread Espresso Martini is made with Tia Maria, gingerbread syrup, Absolut vanilla vodka, espresso, a sprinkle of cinnamon dust and a gingerbread man garnish, so it’s like a drink and dessert in one glass.

Titanic Hotel – Mrs Claus

Titanic’s dedicated Christmas cocktail menu has five classic cocktails that have been given a Christmas glow-up. They include the Mrs Claus, which is made from orange gin, Grand Marnier and cranberry juice, and the Festive Old Fashioned which packs a punch with Rumbullion, Christmas spices, orange, bitters and Goslings 151 iconic black seal rum, because when you’re in a Rum Bar it’d be rude not to.

Bar Hutte – Bombardinos

Who says you can’t combine Christmas shopping with a night out and a few festive cocky Ts? Head to Bar Hutte in Liverpool ONE, by the big Christmas tree, and you’ll find everything you could ho-ho hope for in a Christmas drinks menu. There’s festive cocktails like a Winter Spiced Old Fashioned, or get warmed up with Bombardinos, a hot combination of spiced rum, cream and cinnamon.

Revolucion de Cuba – Cuban Christmas Colada

Cuban vibes don’t instantly make you feel Christmassy but you soon will once you get stuck into the cocktails at Rev de Cuba, Albert Dock. Add a little Caribbean flavour to your festivities with a rum-drenched Cuban Christmas Colada with coco real pineapple juice and oatmeal milk, or a fruity Love Daiq-tually with Havana club three-year old rum, pineapple, raspberry and passion fruit.

PINS Social Club – Chocolate Orange Espresso Martini

PINS on Duke Street has gone full-on festive this year with its Alpine Village and Apres Ski Club, so you can’t help but get in the Christmas spirit. There’s a special Sipsmith Winter special collaboration going on and that means seasonal cocktails like the sloe gin sling and Chocolate Orange Espresso Martini – if only you could find one of those in your stocking.

East River – Jingle Juice

Because Santa still finds you even when you’re out in the suburbs, if you’re in south Liverpool head to East River on Allerton Road and their cocktail masters will put some jingle in your bells with seasonal mixes including the Bad Santa, made with Woodford Reserve, pedro ximinez, cinnamon and bitters and the Jingle Juice, a blend of amaretto, pomegranate, lemon, cinnamon, egg white and rosemary.

Madre – Spiced Cranberry Sangria

All those gorgeous seasonal tacos aren’t going to go down by themselves, they’ll definitely be all the better for a nice little festive drink or two to go with. Choose from a mini menu created by the Madre guys at Anchor Courtyard at the Albert Dock which includes Spiced Cranberry Sangria, just like a big glass of Christmas, blood orange palomas, clementine margaritas or hibiscus mimosas.

The Alchemist – White Forest Gateau

The Alchemist on Brunswick Street is making sure everyone’s nicely stuffed for Christmas with its All That Glitters menu and its bar wizards have got a few magical seasonal cocktails up their sleeve too including the Biscoffee Martini made with Biscoff spread and the White Forest Gateau which mixes Ketel One vodka, Briottet maraschino, Chambord, Giffard chocolate cookie syrup, cranberry juice, and white chocolate foam.

One O’Clock Gun – The Gunslinger

The Gun is celebrating its first Christmas on the Albert Dock, all decked out with a Christmas tree and pressies, as well as a festive cocktail menu that’s a real gift. The Gunslinger is a winter tiki style punch with dark rum, amaretto, pineapple, citrus and cream soda, while the Lotus Russian is a boozy Biscoff concoction with Absolut vanilla vodka, Biscoff, coffee and cream.
