12 Things We Love About Queen Square Liverpool
7 years ago

Queen Square is like the Madonna of Liverpool, its had more face-lifts and revamps than you can shake a disco stick at, and its never looked better. From the shiny red and white store front of Five Guys, to the leafy, sun-trap terrace at La Tasca, you can wine, dine and relax all in one destination.
And we have teamed up with Queen Square to bring you one of the biggest competitions we have ever had on The Guide Liverpool, giving you the chance to win your perfect weekend no the Square with a Hotel stay, Theatre tickets and Food & Drink (Morning, Noon and Night). Simply share on Facebook or re tweet on twitter and the winner will be chosen on 23rd October. Good luck!
In the meantime…..here’s 12 reasons why we love Queen Square.
1 – First of all, it’s smack-bang in the middle of town, so easy to get to and a real hub of activity, day or night. Buses, trains and taxi’s and car parking are a-plenty here making Queen Square a great starting or end point for a day or night out.

ASK Italian
2 – Let’s talk food because you’re spoiled for choice at Queen Square, pasta at Ask Italian (currently offering 40% off for students on Mondays and Tuesdays, plus vouchers codes on their website) Tapas from La Tasca (the kids menu is awesome) and the best of Brazilian Rodizio at Copacabana (where kids under 5 eat free!). What do you fancy?
3 – If you’re too hungry for fine dining check out all the options for a bite to eat on the go! There’s Liverpool’s first cheeky Nando’s (bet you didn’t know that!), you can have it your way at Burger King (now with the added bonus of Deliveroo), or beat the queues and use the order to collect service at Five Guys. Follow Buffalo Jacks on Facebook for regular giveaways and spectacular specials too!
4 – If you’re visiting the city from further afield, get yourself booked into the Marriott Queen Square. Literally across the road from Lime Street station and easy walking distance from the bus connections for Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Marriot Queen Square houses a wonderful spa, is surrounded by a wealth of independent restaurants and theatres and welcomes group bookings too. Click here for reservations.
5 – Let Us Entertain You! Whether you’re into big belly laughs, sing-a-longs, straight-laced Shakespeare or a traditional pantomime, Queen Square is literally ‘over the road’ from our city’s finest live performance venues. The Royal Court, Playhouse and Empire Theatre are all just a moments walking distance and have musicals, comedies and tragedies alike from now until the fat lady sings. Check out local listings here.
6 – It’s not all hustle and bustle at Queen Square. The beautiful St John’s Garden with its monuments and memorials, is a lovely little oasis for a lunchtime sandwich, and legendary pub, Dr Duncan’s (just across the road) is a perfect location for a crossword, comfy seat and a quiet pint!
7 – Back to the thick of it, Yates’ Queens Square has had a huge new refurb and its sexy! Book you and your mates on to a cocktail masterclass, or grab a booth and sample the tasty new menu. Kick your weekend off with 2-4-1 cocktails on Fridays and some banging club tunes and live music.
8 – Queen Square has some seriously impressive neighbours. From the historic St George’s Hall, to Customs House, the World Museum, Walker Art Gallery and our stunning Central Library. There is something for everyone, and a lot of these attractions are free to wander around. With October half-term just around the corner (already, sigh), Queen Square is a great base to plan an affordable day out with the kids.

9 – One of the latest edition to Queen Square is a brand new Costa Coffee, and one of the first brand new look ones too. We all know the Costa Coffee franchise but this one feels different. It’s chilled, spacious and perfectly located for a take away latte before jumping the bus home! Great for business meetings, revising, and people watching. Think you know Costa? Check out Queen Square, open now.
10 – We have spoken about the theatres, the museums and our stunning St George’s Hall on the doorstep of Queen Square, but there are also tonnes of other Liverpool attractions within walking distance from the Square. Experience panoramic views of our city 450 feet in the sky at St Johns Beacon’s viewing gallery, we love our shopping in Liverpool and Church Street, Met Quarter and Liverpool ONE are just moments away. Plus it’s only a 10 minute walk to the Albert Dock and Echo Arena – what’s not to love!
11 – Queen Square’s own multi storey car park has recently undergone a huge transformation form the gang at Q Park. Easy access from the Queensway Tunnel and all major roads in the city centre, over 600 spaces, perfect access to Queen Square and it’s amenities – why would you park anywhere else?
12 – Pure Cabin is the new boy on the block at Queen Square. Now open, the team promise to bring Liverpool a brand new healthy eating restaurant with a full ‘guilt free’ menu. How good does this sound? Nutritious, healthy and delicious and they even have a calorie counter. Keep your eyes peeled, the way you lunch is about to change forever.
Check out the Pure Cabin Facebook page for more info here.
