We set our burger-loving Josh a challenge to pick out his top ten burgers on offer in Liverpool restaurants. He loves a challenge as much as he loves a top quality burger. Here’s the results.
Burgers are the fail safe of any menu. You know when you order a burger you’re getting a meaty or veggie patty, some salad, chips and maybe even an onion ring or two, standard. But as with most things in Liverpool, the vast array of burgers on offer has far surpassed any standard menu offering. We’re talking sauces, all the sauces, all cheese, bacon, double patties, brioche buns, buttermilk chicken, crispy bacon, basically you name it, we’re sticking it on a burger!
Here’s 14 burgers you can have for your tea in Liverpool……
1 – Gusto Classic Burger
Nothing screams ‘Italian Burgers’ like Gusto’s menu. Sandwiched in a brioche bun with melted mozzarella, and served with skin-on fries dusted with their own Italian-blend seasoning, this burger is a winner on all levels. Add pancetta for an extra something special! Menu hereÂ
2 – Punch Tarmey’s The Inferno
It’s no surprise to find the Punch Tarmey’s burger menu packs one hell of a flavour punch. Our Josh chose The Inferno as his favourite. Three 3oz beef patties, Mexicana cheese and chilli on a brioche bun with skin on fries. Just what the doctor ordered! Menu here.Â
3 – Miller & Carter’s Butcher’s Burger
Miller and Carter’s show-stopping Butcher’s Burger is enough to appease any burger lover’s appetite. Treat yourself to a tender beef patty, minced from the finest prime steak and topped with sliced fillet tails, Barbacoa bearnaise, smoked streaky bacon, smoked Cheddar cheese, free range fried egg and crispy onion loaf. 4 – Roxy Ballroom, The Roxy Beast
All that ten pin bowling, pool and beer pong is likely to work up an appetite. Keep hunger at bay, for at least 12 hours with the colossal Roxy Beast. Two 6oz beef patties, seasoned fried chicken fillet, melted cheese, crispy bacon, onion rings and salad. Winner stays on! Menu here.
5 – Smugglers Cove’s Cheese Burger
The Dock’s hot spot, Smugglers Cove, is not just known for the famous hanging kebabs, their burgers get a good bit of attention too. Their new summer menu includes a sumptuous Cheeseburger and a tasty Vegan Beetroot Burger. To spruce things up, guests can add mouthwatering toppings including Camembert, Shorrocks Lancashire Cheese V, goat’s cheese V, Blue Stilton V, smoked bacon DF, pickled beetroot DF/ VG or homemade slaw DF / VG. 6 – Honest Burger, Liverpool Burger
Brand new to Bold Street, Honest Burger knows how to ingratiate itself with the locals. Check out the Liverpool Burger. Created in collaboration with Halfa Halfa this hearty dish consists of Honest beef, British halloumi, Halfa Halfa salt & pepper, spring onion, sriracha mayo and lettuce. Nom! Menu here.Â
7 – Peaberry Coffeehouse & Kitchen’s Cornflake Chicken & Chorizo Burger
Peaberry Coffee House and Kitchen presents the Cornflake Chicken & Chorizo Burger. Nestled in a soft burger bun, the Cornflake crusted chicken breast is topped with pan fried chorizo sausage, melted cheese, chili & ginger slaw and served with sweet potato crinkles. Burger perfection! Menu here.Â
8 – Red Dog Saloon, Red Dog Reuben

9 – Revolucion de Cuba’s Cuban Jerk Fried Chicken Cheese Burger
This Cuban-inspired bar and restaurant’s Cuban Jerk Fried Chicken Cheese Burger is made with crispy Jerk fried chicken, creamy melting Manchego and cheddar cheese and is served on a toasted bun with fries and rum mayo. Menus here.Â
10 – Down The Hatch, Taj Mahal
A sure-fire winner for the veggies and vegan lovers. The Taj Mahal consists of a crispy seitan patty, onion bhaji, sweet chutney, cucumber raita, curry sauce, birds eye chilli and popadoms. Like all in one luscious dish! Menus here.Â
11 – Revolution’s The Mother Clucker
The Mother Clucker at Revolution consists of two beef patties with nacho cheese sauce, stacked with corn-battered chicken, streaky bacon, sweet potato fries, chorizo ketchup, sour cream and crispy fried onions. Served in a poppy seed brioche bun with a large scoop of skinny fries, The Mother Clucker is a tower of meaty goodness. Menu here.Â
12 – Free State Kitchen, French Double Onion Burger
Burgers in the Georgian Quarter dont get much better than this! Free State Kitchen serves up both meat and veggie options, Josh’s top choice is the French Double Onion Burger. Double beef patty, garlic butter, caramelised onions, Dijon mustard mayo and Swiss cheese. Menu here.Â
13 – Titanic Hotel Liverpool’s Titanic 8 oz Steak Burger
