£170k raised at Clatterbridge Cancer Charity’s Midsummer Ball

There was huge support for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity’s Midsummer Ball last weekend, raising a massive £170,000 to support patients and research at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Held at The Titanic Hotel’s Rum Warehouse in Liverpool, the Ball was enjoyed by 350 guests, who turned out to support the Charity and celebrate the return of the biggest event in its fundraising calendar after three years away.

Guests on the night, hosted by Peter Moore and Ngunan Adamu, included football royalty Kenny & Marina Dalglish and John & Andrea Barnes along with Lady Anne Dodd and other well- known faces. Some of the Charity’s biggest supporters were also in attendance, including headline sponsors CDW & Dell Technologies.

Peter, who held senior roles  at some of the world’s leading sporting, technology and gaming brands, before his three year tenure as Chief Executive of Liverpool Football Club, travelled to the UK along with his wife Debbie from their home in California, specially to host the event. Peter and Debbie are long-time supporters of the Charity.

Peter said; “The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre provides vital support to a community that struggles with a higher rate of cancer than the national average. It was wonderful to see the generosity of the attendees of the ball resulting in our ability to raise this amazing amount of money to fund critical services for patients and their families”.

Peter & Ngunan kept guests entertained and the donations rolling in, with fundraising on the night including a glittering diamond necklace giveaway gifted by Boodles and a silent auction, before they handed over for the main event – a live auction hosted by the legendary Jonny Gould, who took to the stage to auction some fabulous money can’t buy experiences and luxury items.

Guests also heard about the Charity’s life-changing services for families, which offers support and counselling to children whose parents have received a cancer diagnosis. The focus for fundraising for the night was to support future families and other innovations in care that are inspired by the expertise and experience of staff at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre who care for patients every day.

The Ball was generously sponsored by IT specialists CDW and Dell, The Johnson Foundation, Panoramic 34, A&B Engineering, Ainscough Industrial and Westminster Associates.

The money raised is a huge boost to the Charity’s Innovations In Care fund. Katrina Bury, Head of The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, said; “It was so good to see the return of our Charity Ball. The atmosphere in the room was incredible and we are blown away by the wonderful support from everyone who attended.

“The total raised on the night is absolutely amazing and will mean so much to local people with cancer and their families. Thank you to our hosts for the evening, especially Peter for making the 5,000 mile journey to support us.

“A special mention must also go to our Ball Committee; who as always have been extremely generous, the work they put into the Midsummer Ball was invaluable to its success.”
