Fancy a pint, bite to eat or cocktails in comfort and style this winter, then check out these Liverpool venues.

When the weather is rubbish the only thing that gets us out to the pub is the promise of a warm welcome, a comfy seat by the fire or a big old bowl of scouse. Even a round of cocktails taste better when you’re tucked into a booth with all your girls, right? Well, we’ve rounded up 18 of the cosiest pubs, bars and restaurants in Liverpool to check out this winter, so don’t put off that catch up or date night, read on.

1 – Frederik’s

The hub of the Georgian Quarter and known for serving up some of the city’s finest, award-winning cocktails. A seat by the fire at Frederik’s with fabulous company, a belting sunday roast and a glass of fizz and Sunday night jazz should be on your ‘must-do’ list for 2019. Menus and more here.

2 – The Smugglers Cove

It’s looking ship shape down at the Albert Dock and we can’t think of a more cosy setting to enjoy a warming rum than The Smugglers Cove, looking out over the twinkly lit dock. Cocktails and menus here.

3 – MacKenzie’s Bar

Rodney Street’s resident whisky bar is warm, welcoming and always has a lively atmosphere. With Liverpool’s largest whisky collection to sample, grab yourself a chesterfield seat and toast old William himself! More info here. 

4 – Baby E Coffee & Deli

Dale Street coffee shop by day and deli-bistro by night, Baby E at The Temple building is a cosy oasis in the heart of the business district serving up European inspired deli nibbles, carefully selected wines and rich, sweet coffees. 5 – Tusk Baltic

If you’re a fan or a roaring fire, tasty small plates and veggie delights, it has to be Tusk Baltic. Who’d have thought a former warehouse could feel so homely. Fab staff, lovely menu and comfy seats. More here.

6 – The Cosy Club

We simply had to include the Liverpool ONE venue that focusses all its attention on drinking, dining and lounging. The Cosy Club is your one stop shop for all things socialising, hot chocolate and people watching. More here.

7 – McGuffie & Co

Looking for a fab city bar to shake off your work day stresses? Stop in a McGuffies Castle St, get a coveted window seat and expect to talk til the cows come home with an expertly pulled pint. More info here.

8 – Aether

Brand new addition to Chavasse Park, Aether, by the Alchemist is a sophisticated bar that oozes charm. High bar stools, comfortable sofas to chill on with amazing cocktails, mood lighting and live music. Menus and more here. 

9 – The Dovey

Mixing old and new, bright event spaces and secluded corners, The Dovey, Penny Lane is a proper local pub that welcomes everyone. Tasty seasonal menus, loads of drink, quiz nights, life music and a welcoming atmosphere await. Info here. 

10 – Lock & Key

The first of two Hanover Street venues on our list, Lock & Key Bar & Kitchen is an intimate, stylish place to enjoy breakfast, brunch and sample the new Neapolitan pizza menu alongside a range of gin cocktails and fab live music. Info and menus here. 

11 – 3 Piggies

There’s a brand new menu on offer at Allerton Road’s Three Piggies restaurant and bar. The dog friendly eatery has something for everyone with vegan, veggie and pooch friendly snacks and lots of local ale, cosy booths, quiz night and live music too. Check it out here. 

12 – Ma Boyle’s Alehouse & Eatery

Ma Boyle’s Alehouse is a brilliant hidden gem just off The Strand and offers everything from afternoon tea and classic British dishes to Scouse and amazing brunch dishes including a huge full English for just ÂŁ7. Menus and more here. 

13 – The Book

West Derby Village’s newest addition, The Book offers a cosy dining and bar space with live music, gorgeous, fresh baked pizzas and live music on a Friday. They stock loads of gin too. More info here. 

14 – The Childe of Hale

Clock up a brisk winter walk to the Hale Lighthouse before stopping in for a warm through at the Childe of Hale where its always Gin’o’clock! Check it out here.

15 – Dr Duncan’s

St John’s Lane wouldn’t be the same without the iconic Dr Duncan’s pub and its myriad of rooms. That roaring fire, a big old comfy armchair, an Elephant Gin and a few mates to chew the fat on a Friday night after work! That’s how you start a weekend. More here.

If you haven’t already heard, Prescot is undergoing something of a face lift and there’s a whole host of new venues breathing new life into the high street. Check out Urbano Chiringuito, a Balearic Bar & Charcuterie offering sangria by the jug, tasty bar snacks and warm Spanish night vibes.
