19 Things to do with the kids this May half term in Liverpool

There’ll be no cries of ‘we’re bored’ on our watch this half term with all these events and activities to check out.

Whether you’ve got techy teens, boisterous toddlers or crafty kids (or a mix of all three) we’ve lined up some great activities to keep them occupied throughout May half term in Liverpool. The majority of the events are free and so treating the kids to a day out on Merseyside, needn’t break the bank.

Here’s 19 things you can do with the kids this May half term in Liverpool…..

1 – Liverpool ONE 10th Anniversary Celebrations

Bank holiday shopping has never been more fun as Liverpool ONE celebrates it’s 10th birthday with parades, live music and street theatre. Details here. 

2 – Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta

Alongside a jaw-dropping display on the Mersey, the Tall Ships Regatta brings waterfront fun in the form of clay model making, face painting, acrobatics, live music and much more. More info here.

3 – Lego Stop-Motion Animation – MAKE, North Docks

Aimed at kids age 8 and over, Make at North Dock is hosting a number of techy sessions throughout half term including the chance to have a go at stop motion with LEGO. More info here. 

4 – Cat Café Opening Weekend, Bold Street

Liverpool’s very own Cat Café opens on Bold Street on Bank Holiday weekend and if you’re little ones are into all things fluffy and cute, this is a real treat. More info here. 

5 – The Storybarn’s Treasure Island, Liverpool ONE

Have you been to Treasure Island yet? Storybarn is hosting interactive story time sessions in the heart of Liverpool ONE until 3rd June, ready to be transported to another time and place? Booking info here. 

6 – Little Notes & Baby Voices, Liverpool Philharmonic

Liverpool Philharmonic Hall hosts a number of half term sessions for babies, toddler and youngsters to get to grips with instruments, music and their own little voices. Find out more here. 

7 – Tractor Ted, Picturehouse at FACT

8 – Kids Club at Awesome Walls

9 – Mark Foster Swim Camp, Everton Park Sports Centre

World Champion Swimmer Mark Foster is back in Liverpool with a Swim Camp this May half term and is on the look out for Merseyside’s next Olympic Swimmer. Check out the details and book here. 

10 – The Funny Looking Kids Comedy Club, Bluecoat

From the first sketch to the final joke competition, Funny Looking Kids: Comedy Club is a rag tag bag of tomfoolery and nonsense and kids of all ages love it! Find out more here.

Join Liverpool artist, Andy Coltart at Cass Art, Liverpool ONE and learn how to use different materials to create your very own masterpiece. More info here. 

12 – Craft and Film, Victoria Gallery

There’s free family drop in sessions at the Victoria Gallery & Museum this half term, with film screenings, crafty activities and plenty of curious exhibitions to explore too. More info here. 

13 – Beat the Drums, BME

The British Music Experience invites your little ones to make their own iconic Brit Pop this half term and check out the range of instruments just waiting to be played. Drums, lead guitar, microphone? Let’s hear it! Details here. 

14 – Drop in get creative Williamson Gallery

The Williamson Art Gallery & Museum, Birkenhead is offering a number of creative days where the kids can get messy making all manner of crafty things. Looks boss! More info here.

15 – Films for Less, Light Cinema New Brighton

Did you know it’s just £3 for the family film screenings on weekend mornings at Light Cinema, New Brighton? Why not make a day of it, or if it chucks it down, this is a great, affordable treat! Listing and tickets here. 

16 – Proto-type Camp, FACT

FACT is hosting a half term camp for 11 to 15 year olds, offering young people a range of digital and creative skills, including designing and prototyping. Find out more here. 

17 – Chester Zoo Nature Reserve

Did you know that Chester Zoo has recently opened a brand new nature reserve just outside the zoo itself, and it’s free to visit? Covering 14 acres, there’s pathways and picnic benches for everyone to use and enjoy. More info here.
