With more than 20 local running events to sign up to this year there’s never been a better time to set yourself a fitness goal. With fun run events suitable for all the family, to gruelling marathon courses that take in all the city’s finest landmarks and attractions, there’s something for all abilities.

These are the top 22 run events taking place across Merseyside in 2019…

Run Aintree 5k, 10k & Half Marathon

3rd February 2019. The first of three run events at Aintree Racecourse this year, the 5k, 10k and Half Marathon event kicks off at 10am and entry starts at £18. Enter here. 

Liverpool Half Marathon

Sunday 10th March 2019. It’s a 9am start at the Pier Head for the first of the city’s oldest established road race. The Liverpool Half Marathon has a slightly new route and costs from £33 to take part. Enter here. 

Liverpool 10 Miler

10th March 2019. As with its sister event, the Liverpool 10 Miler starts at the Pier Head at 9am and also has a new route. Places are limited to 750. Entry starts at £25. Click here to bag your place now. 

Mersey Tunnel 10k

14th April 2019. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to run from Liverpool to New Brighton? You can! It’s a 9:30am start at Blackstock St for the 2019 Tunnel 10k events. Entry starts at £22. Enter here. 

Wirral Ark Pizza Run 5k

20th April 2019. How do you fancy completing a gentle 5k of Birkenhead Park this Spring and tucking into a free slice of pizza at the end? All while raising much needed funds for Wirral Ark? Entry is from £10, kids and dogs welcome too. Enter here. 

John West Liverpool Spring 5k

4th May 2019. Head to Sefton Park and the start line of the annual John West Spring 5k in May and take in the beautiful sights and sounds of the park and get a medal at the end! Entry is from £17. There’s also a kids 1k events. Enter here. 

John West Liverpool Spring 10k

5th May 2019. Following on from the 5k the day before, the John West Spring 10k takes in Sefton Park too but the route is yet to be confirmed. Entry starts at £22 and is open to anyone age 15 and over. Enter here. 

Run For The 96 5k

11th May 2019. Reds and Blues come together at 9:30am to complete the 5k course at Stanley Park in memory of the 96 in May. There’ll be a few famous faces knocking about too. Entry is from £20 with a virtual run options available too. Enter here. 

Rock N Roll Series 5k

25th May 2019. Kicking off the 2019, hugely popular Rock N Roll Marathon series, 5k runners will take to the Albert Dock start line from 9:30am to take on the waterfront route. Entry is £22. Enter here. 

Rock N Roll Half & Marathon

26th May 2019. The city streets will be over run with Rock N Roll participants and local bands as both the marathon and half marathon events take in a course spanning more than 40km. Entry starts from £40. Enter here. 

Race for Life, Pretty Muddy 5k

29th June 2019. Wirral. Are you ready to get absolutely up to the eye balls in mud?! Pretty Muddy returns to Birkenhead Park for this brilliant Cancer Research fundraising event. Entry is £20 for adults, £10 for kids and the fun starts at 10:45am. Enter here. 

Race For Life 5k & 10k

30th June 2019. Wirral. Birkenhead Park is the place to be from 11am as the Race for Life 10k gets underway. This female only event is hugely popular. Entry is £14.00 for adults, £10 for children. Enter here.

Port Sunlight 5k/10k

16th June 2019. The beautiful village of Port Sunlight, Wirral plays host to both a 5k and 10k on Sunday 16th June from 10am. Entry starts at £20 for the £5k and £25 for the 10k…or you can do both events for £32. Enter here. 

Race for Life 5k & 10k

16th June 2019. Aintree. Aintree Racecourse hosts its annual Race for Life event on 16th June with both the 5k and 10k races now taking entries. It’s £15 for adults and £10 for kids. Don’t worry, the course doesn’t include any fences, save that for the national! Enter here. 

Southport 10k & Half Marathon

30th June 2019. The 7th annual Southport Half Marathon and 10k event will kick off at Victoria Park with entry prices starting from £19 for the 1ok and £24 for the half. The only event permitted to close Lord St to traffic, this race will be one to remember. Enter here. 

Race for Life, Pretty Muddy 5k

6th July 2019. Sefton Park. Race for Life returns to Sefton Park on 6th July to get very, very muddy, all in the name of cancer research. This female only, 5k obstacle event is a brilliant laugh and its just £20 entry for adults. Enter here.

Race for Life 5k & 10k

7th July 2019. Sefton Park. If you’ve finally got all that mud off, why not go again and take part in either the 5k or 10k run event with Race for Life from 11am at Sefton Park. Entry is £15 for adults. Enter here.

Run Aintree 5k, 10k & Half Marathon

21st July 2019. Aintree. Our last visit to Aintree Racecourse is for the 5k, 10k and Half Marathon event in July, and whether you take on one lap, two or three of this famous course, you’re gonna be proud as punch with that finishers medal! Entry is from £18. Enter here. 

Whistle Stop Tour

6th – 8th September 2019. Maybe taking on one race isn’t enough and you’re ready for a bigger challenge. In which case, how do you fancy three races on three consecutive days? The Whistle Stop Tour involves a 5 mile, 8 mile and Wirral Half Marathon race. Entry is £60 and places are limited to 300. Enter here. 

Wirral Half Marathon/10k

8th September 2019. It’s a 9:30am start on Coastal Drive, New Brighton for all those taking on the Wirral Half Marathon or Wirral 10k on Sunday 8th September. This flat course is a favourite for those looking to secure a PB. Entry is 25 for the 10k and £30 for the half. Enter here. 

Scouse 5k

27th October 2019. What colour wig will you wear to take on the Scouse 5k 2019? This city centre based 5k fun run is such a good laugh and you can run, walk, jog, hoola hop your way round. Entry is £20 and £10 for under 15’s. Enter here. 

Liverpool Santa Dash

1st December 2019. Pier Head, 9am, get your Santa suit on and celebrate the real start of Christmas with the annual Santa Dash 5k from BTR Liverpool. There’ll be blue suits available again and a host of famous faces taking part in the city course that ends with real snow at the Town Hall. Entry starts from £20. Enter here.
