48 Hours in Liverpool: A City in One Weekend

21/09/2016

It’s official, Summer is over. And what better way to celebrate the Autumn drawing in than with 48 perfect hours, exploring our fabulous city and its after-dark hot spots!

Turn that laptop off and grab your coat, it’s Friday night!

Friday

Friday needn’t be all werk werk werk werk werk werk!

5pm: After work drinks at The Club House, L1.It’s just about still warm enough for a swift pint or glass of bubbles on the lawn at The Club House, before moving inside for post-work gossip and chill at the bar.

7:30pm: Have a wander through town taking in that early evening commuters/party goers rush and work up an appetie!

8pm: Head to Miyagi for some delicious dim sum and that bustling, social dining feel that you just cant manufacture.

10pm: It’s cocktails’o’clock at Be At One, Seel Street, before whiskey tasting at MacKenzies, Rodney Street and ending the night with a disco ball fish-bowl at Red Door for the best Friday night atmosphere!

Saturday

Saturday is all about prep isn’t it? Get your hair blown, lads get the barbers. Hit the shops with your mate for a new outfit, grab some scran and get your eyebrows threaded early so the redness goes down! It’s good to have a plan. Check this one out!

10am: Start your weekend off properly with fluffy pancakes healthy or loaded with caramel at Brunch Club, Duke Street. Plan your day over the papers and a steaming cup of joe right in the heart of the city.

12pm: Leading on to a bit of retail therapy! If Vintage is your thing, take a wander up Duke street and across the Ropewalks to the independent stores on Bold Street and surrounding area – read our vintage pics here.

2pm: Having walked off your morning pancakes (that counts as cardio) take a pit stop with a view at Gusto, Albert Dock. Light Afternoon tea here is truly relaxing and great for people watching. Sunglasses on and sit dockside.

4pm: You’re perfectly located to take in a big slice of Liverpool One for some new threads for later tonight. All Saints, Zara and H&M beckon!

5pm: Time for Bubbles we think, and where better than the Pier Head Bubbles bar with a stunning Mersey River view? Recline on a day bed after a terribly hard day shopping, eating and being fabulous!

8pm: Right, you’re looking slay, its time to hit the town. The Alchemist is the place to be in the business district for dinner and get back on the ale with a red dead zombie and chicken in a basket. Stomach lined in the most fashionable way!

9pm: Take in a comedy show at the revamped Laughter House. With local talent and circuit comedians, the line-ups are always hilarious. (Bar prices are great too) Follow up with a few drinks and sing along with the live music upstairs at The Slaughter House.

11:30pm: The only way to finish off a night out in the business district, it’s gotta be Jenny’s hasn’t it? Old school disco and dancing round your bag is the one!

Sunday

You’ve been on it since 5:29pm on friday, and you’ve partied hard. What you need is a good old fashioned fry up, and the city centre is bursting with options.

10am: Shiraz on William Square is not to be underestimated. A cheap and cheerful, and more importantly, filling fry up awaits your groggy head and sore throat!

12pm: Having broke the bank yesterday on clothes and cocktails, why not resort to a bit of culture to while away Sunday until its an acceptable time to drink again? The World Museum, Walker Art Gallery and Heritage Centre at St George’s Hall will transport you back to memories of school trips and days out and you never know, you might actually learn something new!

5pm: Breakfast was hours ago! Time to refuel, and Gun Powder Chicken at Mowgli is exactly what we’re craving. In fact anything from the diverse, colourful and oh so fragrant menu at Mowgli will have you feeling tip top in no time!

8pm: Ramp things up again and head to Mathew Street for a sing song at The Grapes with Pete Price and it has to be The Cavern. Stopping to photo bomb a few tourists of course!

11pm: If you’re not stopping til the early hours of Monday then Empire will definitely finish you off. Book a booth and get your glam on until Monday hits.
