5 new venues that opened in and around Sefton in 2022
2 years ago
So many new venues opened in 2022 as the hospitality sector continued to emerge from the pandemic lockdowns.
We know that town has enjoyed restaurant openings like Albert’s Schloss in Bold Street and Rudy’s at the Royal Albert Dock.
But it wasn’t just the city that enjoyed impressive new additions. Here are five of our favourite new venues in Sefton and West Lancashire.
Emily’s, Formby
Emily’s is the classy new hangout in Formby. Housed in a painstakingly renovated former bank building, it opened just in time for a busy festive season.
Serving brunch classics by day and small plates in the evening, you can also call in for a drink.
With a gorgeous terrace that’s covered and heated for the winter, we can’t wait until the roof comes back in the summer.
Make sure you book though, as Emily’s is proving a very popular addition to the burgeoning Formby scene.

The Grand, Southport
The Grand is housed in a Grade II listed building in the town’s Lord Street that has undergone a £3 million transformation.
The Grand Brasserie and Chloe’s Piano Bar were the first venues to open, in July. They were followed by the Princess Grace function room in October.
The Grand is already building a strong reputation for food and the afternoon tea is highly recommended. Keep an eye out because there’s more to come with the planned opening of called Harry’s Bar, and also a Sky Bar to take in the views of the Southport skyline. We can’t wait!

The Lake House, Waterloo
A place to eat, drink and stay, the Lake House gives some of the best views in Merseyside to enjoy while you tuck into the tasty dishes on offer.
Following a multi-million pound makeover, the venue sits in the hub of water sport activities at Crosby marina and you can watch people boating and kayaking while you sip your drink.
In addition to the gorgeous restaurant, where you can enjoy brunch, lunch, dinner or coffee and a cake, there are 14 rooms and also conference facilities.
Within walking distance of Waterloo train station, this place is definitely worth a trip to the seaside.

Ormskirk Food Market
This new venue finds its home in the old Ormskirk indoor market, that is unrecognisable following a classy makeover.
Ormskirk Food Market opened in November with six food vendors and a large bar area. Dog friendly and already popular with locals, you can enjoy a wide variety of food and drinks throughout the day.
Purely Pizza is bringing a taste of Naples to Ormskirk, Salmo specialise in streak and seafood, while beef and vegan burgers are available at Meatello. Backyard serves nachos, tacos and fried chicken, while Gyrosophy is providing a taste of the Mediterranean.
And who can’t be excited by the arrival in Ormskirk of Mei Shi, a Chinese street food concept from the genius of chef Dave Chritchley’s Liverpool based Luban?

Queens Road Social, Formby
The concept of coffee and lunches by day and drinks into the evening, is becoming more popular and this new venue in Formby is doing that in style.
This neighbourhood venue is a cute and cosy hangout with a lovely garden area, that has been adapted for the winter months.
A great addition to this part of Formby, the Queens Road Social even held Christmas present wrapping workshops in the lead up to the festive season.
