It was Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze who had us all swooning (and sobbing) at the cinemas in 1990, but now it’s time to fall back in love once more with the incredible stage version of a classic.

Smash hit Ghost The Musical is at the Liverpool Empire all this week, recreating the amazing magic of the movie.

And if you’ve not got your tickets yet, here’s 5 reasons why you need to book them fast!

Chance to see local legend Les Dennis

Comedian, presenter, and now-in-demand actor Les Dennis is starring in Ghost this Friday and Saturday (September 6 and 7) only, so it’s a chance to catch the popular Scouser while you can. Les, who trod the cobbles as Gail’s husband, Michael Rodwell, in one of Corrie’s most gripping storylines, wowed audiences recently when he played Malvolio in Twelfth Night at the Shakespeare North Playhouse and he’s receiving amazing reviews for Ghost too, playing two roles, Hospital Ghost and Lionel Ferguson.

It’s one of the most famous stage and screen love stories

And who doesn’t love one of those?! Walking back to their apartment late one night, a tragic encounter sees Sam murdered and his girlfriend Molly left devastated and alone. With the help of a psychic Sam, who is trapped between this world and the next, tries to communicate with Molly to save her from grave danger… It’s a classic romance with a supernatural twist – and peppered with drama, mystery, and loads of great comedy.

Superb soundtrack

Most of us have hungered for the return of Ghost the Musical, if only to hear its epic soundtrack. The Righteous Brothers’ famous Unchained Melody is synonymous with this other-worldly love story, but it’s not the only one that’ll have you reaching for the tissues. With You and Nothing Stops Another Day, two beautiful and heart-wrenching songs co-written by Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart, will do the trick too.

THAT iconic scene

There’s no escaping that infamous scene as artist Molly throws the clay and goes to create her latest piece on her potter’s wheel only to feel the touch of her soulmate Sam once again, as he wraps his arms around her. Let’s face it, it’s totally romantic (and a little bit raunchy) and it had us all racing to the nearest ceramics studio to sign up for pottery lessons.

Stunning sets

Amazing sets transport you to New York to make you feel like you’re really in the middle of the story, whether it’s outside with the well-known Brooklyn Bridge landmark in the background, on the subway, or in Sam and Molly’s spacious loft-style apartment.

Ghost the Musical is at the Empire Theatre, Liverpool, from now until Saturday, September 7.
