55 Things to do in Liverpool this Summer – Your Essential Guide

Let’s be honest Liverpool is great all year round, but there really is something extra special about our city when the sun is shining. The summer holidays are officially on, whether you are stuck for stuff to do with the kids, the other half or just fancy some Liverpool lone time we have got your essential Summer guide to what you can get up to. Can you complete the list of 55 things before the Autumn?
1 – Fly a kite at Otterspool prom and roll down the embankment hills til you’re dizzy!
2 – Experience a weekend of sea shanty, folk rock and live acoustuc folk music at the Albert Docks’ first ever Folk on the Dock Festival 27-19 August.
3 – Get your mates into a big old game of Frisbee and have a picnic by the lake at Sefton Park
4 – Name at piglet and feed the calf’s at Croxteth Park’s Home Farm. They’re so cute!
5 – Get a selfie with an Ironman at Crosby Beach and tweet them to us! @TheGuideLpool
6 – Leave the BBQ to Slim’s Pork Chop Express and chow down like a champ (and they do the dishes)
7 – Cheer at the spectacular fireworks at the ferry port when the cruise liners set sail. All Aboard!
8 – Take a spin on the city’s big wheel, how many landmarks can you spot from the top?
9 – Make daisy chains at Wirral Country Park and soak up the breath-taking views across the estuary to Wales.
10 – Bust some moves at LIMF this weekend with Wretch 32 & Ms Dynamite (Teee heeee) Loads of family fun and its free!

11 – Be true to your Liverpudlian roots and get a bowl of scouse from Bretta & Co down you! So what if its 30 degrees
12 – Toast the magnificent Three Graces with a glass (or three) of prosecco at Matou on the Pier Head
13 – If you have to sit indoors to eat, marvel at the acrobatic dinner show at Circo (but maybe save your own cartwheels for on the grass outside)
14 – Show tourists where the statue of John Lennon is and spend the next 30 mins taking pics for them (aww we’re a lovely lot)
15 – Throw some shapes with Jason Derulo and Olly Murs this Summer as Fusion Festival comes to town with Capital FM. Tickets still available.
16 – Take a day trip to New Brighton, with gorgeous new restaurants, the beach and Bubbles Soft Play (which had a new outdoor splash area) it’s the perfect summer day destination.
17 – Taste 75 years of summer memories at Nicholls Ice-cream, Parkgate Neston open til 8pm! Double scoop bubble-gum please!

18 – Celebrate our amazing city with a free festival on the Pier Head. Liverpool Loves brings you some incredible live music, family fun and health & well being activities. Seriously not to be missed!
19 – Develop a taste for Liverpool Gin at Fredericks and relax in the splendour of Hope Street.
20 – Sit back and let Liverpool Central Library entertain the kids this summer, with a different act almost every day, the magicians and songs will keep them entertained for hours!
21 – Encourage the kids to get active over summer, take them to see the British Gymnastics Championship series at the Echo Arena, July 28-31
22 – Utilise Liverpool’s amazing AL fresco spaces (or beer gardens as we like to call them). Take your pick from the Kaz Gardens the new Be At One terrace, Red Door roof top, Gusto’s stunning dock side terrace or sat with a pizza & a pint outside Peacocks.

23 – Hire a city bike and see how many miles and landmarks you can clock up in one day!
24 – Better yet, stick a high-viz jacket on and cycle the city at a leisurely pace on a balmy summer evening instead, the Wirral Way is the perfect cycle route!
25 – Pick up your fave book and lose yourself in the Bluecoat gardens with an ice-tea
26 – Get your glad rags on and head to Haydock Park for a day of racing in the sun. Big hats are a must! They have their next Ladies Day on Saturday 6th August.
27 – Put your craft skills to good use and join in Liverpool Pride with a homemade rainbow flag. Celebrates the city’s LGBT community July 31st
28 – Sticking with the art theme, check out a master of modern art at the Tate as the Francis Bacon: Invisible Rooms exhibition goes live until September.
29 – We’re on a roll! Stop in at the East Avenue Bakery for a delicious bacon butty to line your stomach before hitting concert square for drinks in the sunniest square in the city.
30 – See how many Hen and Stag parties you can photobomb down Mathew Street.

32 – Summer is the perfect time to take a breath of fresh air and walk from West Kirkby out to Hilbre Island, don’t forget your camera, and the tide times!
33 – Have a well-earned drink and bite to eat back on dry land at Aubergine’s pretty outside tables. Just check that for a view.
34 – Leave the city behind and get messy down on the farm. Farmer Ted’s is a brilliant day out for kids of all ages. (Parents can have a turn on the go-karts too)
35 – Going for Gold. Museum of Liverpool are inviting little ones to get involved with their Festival or Archaeology by digging for treasure throughout the summer. Its free too!
36 – Mums say that tea cools your down right? Do Chinese tea cocktails count? Chamber 36 on Berry Street is the place to go for a Flip’s Sake cooler. Yum
37 – Relive the drama of summer in New York as West Side Story comes to the Empire Theatre this August. All together now….Mariaaaaaaa
38 – From a legendary musical to a whole new tradition, jump into a tiny tuk tuk for a karaoke Friday night ride. (Beatles tunes are a must!)
39 – Dig a sledge out of the garage and head to Freshfield for some sand dune surfing. Beats sandcastles any day!
40 – Eh Eh? Get your free scouse wig and don your trackie for the Radio City Scouse 5k race taking over the city in Sept. Raising vital funds for Clatterbridge Hospital. Sign up Now!
41 – Speaking of trackies, what better time to plan your shopping route, from Bold Street independents to L1 department stores, fill your bags with summer bargains. Ohh we love a good 70% sale!
42 – Afternoon tea has its place firmly set across the city hotels and our fave is at Titanic, stunning views of the dock and a sea breeze! So refined!
43 – If, however your summer is all about the kids, head to the Funky Shake & Candy Bar on the Albert Dock for shakes and slushies galore.
44 – It’s against the law during August to not partake in a little al fresco dining at Moon & Pea, Lark Lane. (The Veggie burger is FIT)
45 – Can’t make it to Spain this summer? Lunch on the sun-trap terrace at La Tasca, Queens Square will instantly transport you to Barcelona with their light, affordable tapas menu.
46 – For a taste of summer in a glass, Salt House Tapas is the place for you. People watch at Liverpool ONE with an Elderflower Bellini and a light breeze from the waterfront
47 – If cocktails aren’t your thing, there’s over 50 world beers to taste at The Club House Liverpool ONE and it surely has one o f the best outside areas in the city, plus the food is pretty good too! Make a weekend of it!
48 – Take a stroll! Everton Park is awash with stunning wild flowers now and a great place to burn off some steam with a footy, skipping rope or camera.
49 – For an unrivalled view and a calming breeze, a climb to the top of the Anglican Cathedral is not to be missed. Are you brave enough to scale the tower?
50 – Alright Queen: Can you find the spot on James Street that makes the Queen Victoria statue look less Queen and more…….erm King? That carefully placed sceptre has a lot to answer for.
51 – Go and explore one of the best and most interactive exhibition’s to ever come to Liverpool, and if you love The Jam even more of a bonus. About the Young Idea runs at The Cunard Building until September.
52 – Brighten up a workday lunchtime by swerving the packed deli and stop off at St Johns Gardens for a little patch of grass and some peace and quiet
53 – End the Summer with the Vengaboys! Yes it’s true they are coming to Merseyside for Reminisce 2016, the UK’s only club classics & old skool festival happening at Shirdley Park on Saturday September 10th. This year promises to be bigger & better than ever before with the likes of Tall Paul, Eve Galagher, Robin S, Black Box and of course local DJ’s Lee Butler, Anton Powers and many many more.

54. Go to the beach in the park! Calderstones Park is hosting its Urban Beach even again this summer. From July 23rd to Sept 4th the park will be transformed into a huge fairground with man-made beach, deck chairs and buckets and spades a plenty.

55 – Check out the city’s newest bars, just opened we have Santa Maluco on Castle Street, Be At One on Seel St, Tom Halls Tavern, Bubbles Beach Club, and District House. Plus coming soon swanky new venue The Alchemist, classics club Anthemic and Liverpool’s first movie inspired venue Arthouse.
