6 Lunar New Year events across Liverpool City Region

Lunar New Year is almost upon us.
The Year of The Dragon will be celebrated in style in Liverpool with a range of celebrations happening for Lunar New Year over the next few days.
There’s events happening at the Albert Dock, Bombed Out Church and of course in Cha Town across the weekend. Find out more here.
But you don’t have to be in the city centre to enjoy the occasion.
Here are six places to celebrate Chinese New Year in the city region.
Lings on Kings, King Street, Southport
There are four nights to choose from at one of Southport’s favourite Chinese restaurants.
Yu can celebrate Lunar New Year on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th February, as well as Friday 16th and Saturday 17th.
There will be a special banquet and live entertainment from AcoustiCats as well as entertainment from Peter the Magician.

New China City, King Street, Southport
The Year of the Dragon will be celebrated at this popular Southport restaurant with a special five course banquet.
You can pick from 9th, 16th or 23rd February and entertainment will include a lion dance, fireworks, Kung Fu, raffles and karaoke.

Celebrate at home thanks to Sixty Kitchen, Formby
If you can’t face getting dressed up, then Sixty Kitchen will bring the celebration to you.
On 10th February you can mark the Year of the Dragon with one of their famous original or plant-based banquets in the comfort of your own home.
Sixty Kitchen delivers its restaurant standard set menu curated to satisfy up to four people at a fixed price of ÂŁ15 per person. There is free delivery on boxes for four or more, and collection from Chapel Lane only for two people.

New Ying King, Seaview Road, Wallasey
You can celebrate Chinese New Year on 10th and 11th February at this local favourite.
The year of Wood Dragon will be celebrated at New Ying King with lucky ang pows (red packets) up for grabs.
They said: “Let’s come together as a community to embrace the spirit of Chinese New Year and welcome good fortune and prosperity into our lives.”
The New Ying King introduced a new dim sum side menu recently but all their old favourites – from classic hot and sour soup to chicken satay skewers – are still available to celebrate with a fabulous meal.

Chows Eating House, Parkgate
Lunar New Year celebrations will be in full swing on 9th and 10th February, from 7pm.
There will be a Kung Fu display and lion dance while you enjoy a delicious banquet specially selected for the occasion.
Chows Eating House has been serving top class Chinese food on The Parade in Parkgate since 1970, with the added attraction of fantastic views of the Dee Estuary and a Champagne bar.

This stylish restaurant in Woolton will be marking Lunar New Year with dragon dancers performing on both 13th and 21st February.
Make sure you book, as these nights are bound to be popular at the family run venue.
