£650K raised at Marina Dalglish Grand Ball at Knowsley Hall
7 years ago
Marina Dalglish was ‘overwhelmed’ after her grand ball raised £650,000 for her Merseyside based charity.
The funds will go towards supporting Merseyside cancer sufferers and their families, particularly those affected by Prostate cancer.
Going all out with a Mardi Gras theme to top the success of previous years, the Marina Dalglish Grand Ball was held at Knowsley Hall where guests were greeted by a Samba band and Brazilian dancers, Viva Brazil!
Marina Dalglish said “Kenny and I never cease to be amazed at the generosity and commitment of our supporters who continue year after year to overwhelm us with their kindness, and this year we have been left speechless!”
“We would like to thank every single person who helped to make this year’s Ball our best ever. I’m not sure how Lauren, who pulled everything together, is going to top it next year!”
After being welcomed by Kelly Cates (nee Dalglish), 370 guests were treated to a three-course meal, followed by Rio Hotdogs at midnight, while the Swan band flew in from Switzerland to provide the entertainment until the wee hours.
MC and Auctioneer Jonny Gould raised an eye watering £600,000 from the prizes which included a private dinner by Michelin-starred chef Tom Kitchin, a meet and greet with Niall Horan and unique experiences from Liverpool FC. The star raffle prize, a £10,000 diamond ring, was again generously donated by Boodles.
The Volunteer hostesses were Donna’s Dollys, former patients and staff from The Marina Dalglish Centre who dedicate their time to support the appeal.
The charity is in talks with urology specialists and Liverpool Football Club about how they can help those suffering with prostate cancer through state of the art technology and using the community rooms at the Kenny Dalglish Stand.
