8 activities the kids will love at the Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta 2018

There’s a whole weekend of family fun to be had as the Tall Ships sail up the Mersey this Bank Holiday.
A fleet of tall ships from across the world is heading to the River Mersey to help the city celebrate the 10th anniversary of its year as European Capital of Culture, this bank holiday weekend. The spectacular fleet will return to the city for the fifth time for the Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta, a free event which takes place between 25 and 28 May 2018 and alongside the waterfront action is a host of family-friendly activities, your little ones will love.
Based around the Pier Head and Mann Island area of the waterfront, kids of all ages can not only get a great view of the action on the water, but also explore, learn and get crafty on land too! Ice-creams and sunscreen at the ready..
Here’s 8 activities the kids will love at the Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta 2018….
1 – Have a Whale of a time
A 50ft Sperm Whale has beached at Mann Island and if you follow the Siren’s song inside, there are thrilling, magical tales to be heard. Story-telling sessions are 30 minutes long and are aimed at kids under 10. More info here.
2 – The Sun, The Moon & The Stars Spectacular
Stick around after dark to experience performance like no other! The Sun, the Moon and the Stars Finale is a specially commissioned show which features kings, queens and an amazing soundtrack. More info here.
3 – Love is in the Air
If you have little tumblers in your family, or dreams of running away to the circus, don’t miss ‘To Me, To You’ by Wired Aerial at Mann Island for a captivating aerial show on a brilliant set. Times and more info here.
4 – Crafty Clay Sea Creatures
Get hands on with non-messy crafting at Clayotic, Mann Island. Suitable for kids age 3 and up, you can create your own sea monsters or mermaid to take home! More info here.
5 – Mermaids & Pirates, Oh My!
Speaking of mermaids, you’ve heard their song and made your own mini one out of clay, so why not be transformed into a bejewelled princess of the sea while you’re at it! Lots of other designs available too. Info here.
6 – Have you met the Moon Man?
No Tall Ships Regatta would be complete without a bit of the moon, and George Orange, a clown from across the pond in America, has brought a piece of it with him. Watch him perform amazing stunts at Mann Island. Details here.
7 – Check in and check out of L’Hotel
Sailing into Liverpool must be awfully tiring so how about checking in to L’Hotel? Expect acrobatics, globe walking, dead celebrities and trumpeting – all served up with an irresistibly French twist in the smallest hotel in the world. Info here.
8 – Catch Two Cats & a Canary
Two cats and a canary have been caught in a manic cartoon chase around a tiny cage at the Pier Head this bank holiday weekend as French farce meets Scouse wit in this fantastical, hilarious performance for all ages. Find out more here.
