Like the old song says ‘we do like to be beside the seaside’ and if there’s one place guaranteed to have us packing up our buckets and spades and heading to the coast, it’s Southport.
Merseyside’s favourite resort’s got 22 miles of coastline and the most gorgeous, huge sandy beach where you can have a paddle or a picnic, build a sandcastle, or just walk along and feel the sea breeze whistling past your ears.
But even if you don’t like the feel of golden gritty grains between your toes, there’s tons going on to make this super-special Sefton town so worth a visit this summer.
Adventure Coast Southport

With a reputation as the friendliest theme park in the UK, Adventure Coast Southport’s got to be a number one destination for families, friends and thrill-seekers set on fun and unforgettable experiences. With not one but four exciting lands, there’s a mix of exhilarating rides, games and interactive attractions with something for everyone from toddlers to grandma and grandad to absolutely love. There are lots of places to grab a bite to eat and a drink – or unlike other theme parks you can even take your own – and guess what? You can even take the family dog too!
Outdoor games in King’s Gardens

The 17-acre King’s Gardens in the centre of Southport are always a hive of activity. They’ve been lovingly restored to their former glory with Victorian shelters, a Venetian Bridge, and gorgeous flowerbeds that are worth a wander – although we suspect it’ll be hard to keep the younger members of the family away from the amazing play area and the crazy golf course.
Have fun – and keep fit

Who knew staying healthy could be so enjoyable, with loads of activities aimed at putting the ‘fun’ into ‘fit’! You can take a Swan pedalo out onto Marine Lake – or even hire a rowing boat – and as well as gorgeous green spaces, Victoria Park has got some great pathways that are perfect for cycling and skating.
Silcock’s Funland

Who doesn’t love a slot machine? Southport’s largest family amusement centre’s open every day with mini rides and fantastic games adding up to hours of fab family times. There are loads of prizes to be had and huge chances to win at the Ticket Game Zone (as well as a great value snack bar offering toasties, paninis, fries, and more to satisfy hungry mouths).
Model Railway Village

It’s all aboard for a change of pace and a look at the world in miniature at Southport Model Railway Village. Hundreds of thousands of families and model train fans from all over the world have gone full steam ahead to this spectacular attraction that’s one of the largest garden railway systems in the UK!
Brilliant bars and restaurants

Part of the pleasure in visiting anywhere is stopping to enjoy some food or a drink and there’s no shortage of amazing places in Southport whether you’re looking for a quaint café or tearoom, a chic restaurant, a trendy bar, or anything in between. On your summer-must list is a stop off on historic Lord Street where you’re spoilt for choice. Will it be a spot of elegant fine dining in the Grade II Listed Grand Brasserie? A relaxed lunch in the laid-back Occulo Lounge? Or a bit of brunch at the favourite Lords Café Bar? Decisions decisions …
Southport has never been so easy to get to

With so much to do, having a great summer’s never been so easy – and if you want to make life and loving your visit to Southport easier still, then hop on the train to get there. Merseyrail’s got fast and frequent services to and from the seaside town and the station’s just a short walk away from the centre. No hassle, no parking panic – and a family saver might even save you money!
