8 Things to do on a sunny Spring day in Merseyside

The sun is shining on Merseyside and we’re loving the chance to break out our sunnies and enjoy the Spring fresh air.

It feels like we’ve waited a life time for a little Spring sunshine and now that it’s here we’re spending every single minute of it out and about in the city. From curb-side dining to ice-cream at Parkgate and wandering through the daffodil fields at Sefton Park, there’s a little bit of blue sky for everyone to enjoy on Merseyside.

Here’s 8 things to do on a sunny Spring day in Merseyside….

1 – Alfresco Dining on Castle Street

Spring

Treat yourself to lunch al fresco at any one of the pavement-side restaurants an café along Castle Street while the sun shines on. From Gino’s to Pasta Cosa, Cau, Olive and Caste Street Townhouse, you’re spoiled for choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

2 – Take A Stroll

The Guide Liverpool

Why not take the long route to the bus stop or car park after work, or walk your lunch off with a stroll around St John’s Gardens, the Pier Head, our stunning Gerogian Quarter or even just a wander across Chavasse Park while the sky is blue. All counts as cardio!

3 – See signs of Spring at Sefton Park

Spring is definitely in full swing now with signs of new life popping up all over the place, especially at our city parks. Sefton Park is now awash with daffodils, ducklings and miles of pathways to enjoy with the kids, the pooch or even just on your own. Take your camera, you wont regret it.

4 – Coffee on the flags

Is there anything more cosmopolitan than enjoying a coffee/cocktail at a pavement café in the sunshine? We love sipping in style at The Quarter, Moose & Moonshine and Gusto, Albert Dock. What’s your favourite outdoor coffee shop?

5 – Sit off on the Grassy Steps at Liverpool ONE

Need a little mid-shopping chill? The steps at Thomas Steers Way, Liverpool ONE have been covered in grass once again, a sure-fire sign that summer is just around the corner. Fun for the kids, a sit down for you, and a brill little sun trap. Winner!

6 – See the city from up high

Views of Merseyside don’t get much better than on a clear, sunny day and getting a good vantage point is super easy. The roof terrace at Liverpool’s Central Library has now re-opened and is free to visit, plus you can climb Liverpool Cathedral Bell Tower to the roof for breath-taking views as far as Wirral, North Wales and beyond.

7 – Ice Cream season has begun

It’s official, ice-cream season has begun and there’s so many places you can get yourself a scoop to enjoy in the sun. Get yourself over to IceStone Gelato, Queen Square and choose from more than 20 freshly prepared flavours of gelato to take away, or how about a wander along the waterfront and a double scoop at Parkgate?

8 – Let’s go to the beach, beach!

Formby Beach

If there’s one things we’re truly spoiled with here in Merseyside, it’s mile upon mile of sandy beach. From New Brighton to West Kirby, Ainsdale to Crosby and all the way up to Southport, why not treat the kids to fish & chips by the sea after work and burn off some steam on the sand?
