8 ways you can help spread some Christmas cheer in Liverpool

If you or anyone you know needs a bit of help or support this Christmas don’t hesitate to contact the community events, groups and organisations we’ve found in every corner of our generous city.
If you’re able to help out or donate in any way, one small gesture could make a huge difference to someone and their family this Christmas.
1 – Free Christmas Lunch Liverpool – Silvestrian Suites, Silvester Street (Wed 18 Dec)
Up to 200 senior citizens are invited to a free Christmas celebration with a festive 2-course lunch! Meet new friends in a beautifully decorated venue and celebrate this Christmas time with a live DJ playing the classics, Bingo, Play your Cards Right, and lots of cash prizes to be won on the day

2 – Liverpool Pyjama Party (Donations open until Sun 8 Dec)
Give the gift of comfort this Christmas by donating a new pair of pyjamas to vulnerable children who may be homeless or living in need across Liverpool and Merseyside. Buy a pair of PJs from any shop, aged from newborn to older teens.

3 – People Help the People – Liverpool Facebook Community
This group has over 8,000 members offering free household and unwanted items, including baby equipment and children’s toys in excellent condition and free to a good home. See what’s on offer, put out a request for items and simply arrange to pick up.
4 – Liverpool Freegl – Twitter
Liverpool Freegl is on online community reuse group, reminding us not to tip it or skip it, but give it away with Freegle. Items are uploaded hourly to be collected, and you’ll find lots of local hints and tips on saving and recycling too.
5 – Cash 4 Kids: Mission Christmas
One in three children and young people on Merseyside live in poverty. Please help to make sure they all have something to open this Christmas morning. Any new, unwrapped items from newborns to toddlers, younger children and teenagers up to 18-years will bring so much happiness.

6 – Hampers at Christmas for Knowsley (Donations by 15 December)
This local charity delivers food hampers for around 70 older residents who are isolated this Christmas. They’re appealing to local business/employees for donations of food items for hampers which will be delivered door-to-door.

7 – The Big Help Project – Food Bank Donations
The Big Help Project collects food and other donations for the people of Knowsley, feeding over 9000 every single year. Buy an extra couple of items when you are doing your big shop this week and feel good knowing those items will make a huge difference to people in our area. At the moment things like Christmas chocolates, toiletries, nappies and tinned fruit and veg are in short supply.

8 – Carol Concerts for great causes
You can get yourself feeling festive whilst also helping those in need in this Christmas. The annual Claire House Carol Concert takes place in the Concert Room of St. George’s Hall on Monday 16th December and you can get more info here.
There will also be concerts this year for the Alder Centre at Liverpool Cathedral on 12th December, the NSPCC Carols by Candle Light will take place at the Met Cathedral on 5th December, and Radio City’s Cash for Kids Carol Concert returns to Liverpool Cathedral on 17the December.
