But, as gorgeous as our city is, if you fancy a change of scene then Liverpool JLA is lining up new destinations for 2022 to tempt you into getting away.
The airport’s already got more than 60 direct routes and since Lufthansa launched its flights from Liverpool in May, it means over 100 cities and towns across five continents are now reachable with a one-stop connection from JLA via the airline’s Frankfurt hub.
So, if you’re looking for somewhere to book your next holiday, here are the new destinations you can fly to from Liverpool in 2022, including a few that have arrived in time for this summer …
Heraklion in Crete
Launched in June, easyJet has direct flights every Thursday until October 27 to Heraklion in Crete where you’ll get pretty much guaranteed sunshine, the warm waters of the Med to swim in and some beautiful beaches. It’s a great spot for nature and ancient sights too – and it’s quieter and a bit cooler in Sept/Oct.

Another one launched by easyJet in June, there are direct flights to Izmir in Turkey on Wednesdays until October 26. It’s the country’s third largest city, with historical attractions to see, a famous bazaar that dates back to the 17th century and you’re close to the coastal resorts which will be less crowded in Sept/Oct.
Kos
easyJet added Kos to its JLA destination list in July and it now flies out on Sundays to the Greek island which is famous for its sandy beaches and historic landmarks – it’s also a really popular destination for cycling, windsurfing and diving if you fancy being all active and outdoorsy while you’re away.Â
Belfast
Closer to home but also from July, easyJet now has a direct route to Belfast and the flights, which only take about 50 minutes, are every day of the week. There are loads of amazing sights to see, including The Giant’s Causeway and Game of Thrones locations, plus the fabulous Titanic Belfast attraction.

Las Palmas in Gran Canaria
From November 1, if you’re up for a bit of autumn/winter sunshine then Ryanair is launching weekly flights on Saturdays from JLA to Las Palmas. The cosmopolitan capital of Gran Canaria, it’s a big draw with tourists for its miles of sandy beaches and bays sheltered by a coral barrier which are perfect for a safe dip in the sea.

Malta will be a direct route from Liverpool from October 30 thanks to new twice-a-week flights on Thursdays and Sundays from Ryanair. It’s one of the most beautiful islands in the Med, known for its diving, historical landmarks and lovely seafood and if you go in autumn/winter the weather’s mild and it’s much less crowded than in the height of summer.
