9 ways to celebrate Burns Night in Liverpool 2025
3 hours ago
Burns Night takes place on Saturday, 25 January, and of course, Liverpool will be celebrating
Each year on Burns Night people around the world raise a toast to the legacy of Scotland’s greatest storytellers – Robert Burns.
If you’re unfamiliar with Robert Burns – The 18th Century poet is known by a number of different names including Rabbie Burns and the Bard of Ayrshire, and he narrowly beat William ‘Braveheart’ Wallace to be named as the greatest Scot in a poll ran by STV in 2009.
He’s kind of a big deal, he also wrote the classic New Years Eve song – “Auld Lang Syne”
Did you know that the first Burns supper is thought to have taken place over 200 years ago? Friends of the late poet came together to celebrate his influential poetry and writing.
Many of these Burns Night traditions remain intact to this very day, such as enjoying whisky, haggis and of course reciting a Burns poem or two. Here is how you can celebrate this age-old Scottish tradition in Liverpool this year!
