Nile Rodgers, Camelphat and Cream Classical on the Waterfront: Everything you need to know if you are heading to the Pier Head

Nile Rodgers and CHIC return to the city this week for their biggest show to date and alongside them the likes of Camelphat, Basement Jaxx and Roger Sanchez take to the Pier Head Stage for four days of incredible music and good times!

The iconic music legends, Nile Rodgers are taking over the Pier Head on Thursday as part of the all-new four-day ‘On the Waterfront’ Festival.

They’ll be bringing their brill back catalogue of hits to the city showcase, and they’ll be supported by Liverpool’s Rebecca Ferguson and The Zutons.

The Festival also welcomes Liverpool dance icons, Camelphat, on Friday, and Cream Classical on Saturday and Sunday.

It’s a fab four days of fun so here’s everything you do to know to make sure you don’t miss a thing – so, Everybody Dance….and enjoy. 

Where is it?

The Pier Head, right at the heart of Liverpool’s world-famous waterfront – head for the bronze statue of The Beatles in front of the Three Graces and they will lead the way!

Thursday, September 16 – Nile Rodgers & Chic, Rebecca Ferguson and The Zutons.

Friday, September 17 – Cream & Circus present Camelphat. Liverpool electronic duo Camelphat’s – aka house DJs and producers Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala – return for a very special homecoming show.

Saturday, September 18 – Cream Classical on the Waterfront with Kaleidoscope Orchestra, Faithless, Basement Jaxx, Seb Fontaine, Tall Paul and more.

Sunday, September 19 – Cream Classical Ibiza with Kaleidoscope Orchestra, Armand Van Helden, Groove Armada, Roger Sanchez, Seb Fontaine, Tall Paul and others.

What times do gates open?

Camelphat

For Nile and Co, gates open at 4pm, last entry 8pm.

Camelphat – opens at 4pm, last entry 8pm.

For both Cream Classical events it’s 12 noon, with last entry at 5pm.

How do I get there?

Go to www.merseyrail.org to check train times – the nearest station is James Street station which is just a short walk away from Pier Head, for Wirral line services. Stop at Moorfields for Northern line services.

Arriva and Stagecoach both offer services that take you near to the Pier Head including: 10A, 17, 18, 20, 26, 500, 86C. Go to www.arrivabus.co.uk and www.stagecoachbus.com

There are a number of car parks nearby including Q-Park in Liverpool ONE, NCP in Rumford Street and Fazakerley Street, Corn Exchange Car Park in Moor Street and JustPark, Water Street.

Do I need a COVID test?

Ticket holders will need to demonstrate their COVID-19 Status by providing either:
Proof of a negative NHS Lateral Flow Test taken prior to travel on the day of arrival at the festival, Proof of full vaccination – both doses received (with the second at least 14 days prior to the festival) or
Proof of natural immunity based upon a positive PCR test within 180 days of the festival (including 10 days self-isolation following the result).

What’s the weather looking like?

Prepare for showers on all days.  It might be slightly warmer on the Thursday (19 degrees) falling to 17 by Sunday. Either way there can be a bit of a breeze on the front so wrap up with loads of layers.
