The Responder is BBC One’s new police drama, set in Liverpool and starring Martin Freeman
You can join award-winning actor Martin Freeman, Adelayo Adedayo and former Liverpool police officer turned writer, Tony Schumacher, for an exclusive online panel discussion and Q&A, ahead of the launch of BBC One’s gripping new police drama, The Responder.
On Tuesday 18 January at 6pm the BBC will launch the live webinar, hosted by BBC Radio Merseyside’s Ngunan Adamu. You’ll be able to put your questions to the stars of the show, including newcomers Josh Finan and Emily Fairn, series producer Rebecca Ferguson (The Trial Of Christine Keeler; Cold Feet; Next Of Kin) and BAFTA award-winning Executive Producer and CEO of Dancing Ledge Productions Laurence Bowen (The Salisbury Poisonings, The Eichmann Show).
Filmed in and around Liverpool The Responder holds a mirror up to the emotional extremes of life on the front line of British policing – sometimes darkly funny, sometimes painfully tragic, always challenging.
It follows Chris (Martin Freeman), a crisis-stricken, morally compromised and unconventional urgent response officer tackling a series of night shifts on the beat in Liverpool.

Whilst trying to keep his head above water both personally and professionally, Chris is forced to take on a new rookie partner Rachel (Adelayo Adedayo). Both soon discover that survival in this high pressure, relentless, night-time world will depend on them either helping or destroying each other.
The Responder (5×60’) is written by Tony Schumacher, his first original series for television, with Tim Mielants (The Terror; Legion; Peaky Blinders) as lead director and produced by Fremantle-backed Dancing Ledge Productions for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The Responder has secured funding and support from the Liverpool Film Office through the LCR Production Fund.
