Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram officially opens new Local Solutions HQ in Wavertree

Liverpool-based charity Local Solutions has moved from their home of nearly 50 years on Mount Vernon Green to a new HQ in Wavertree.

The charity, launched in 1974 to support vulnerable children, adults and families across the Liverpool City Region and North Wales, was joined by LCR Metro Mayor and Liverpool Lord Mayor Councillor Mary Rasmussen to officially launch the new premises.

The office will house the charity’s support teams as they continue to provide support services to tackle a huge range of issues including domestic abuse, homelessness, bullying and social care.

Local Solutions

Mayor Rotheram said: “The necessity for what Local Solutions does and its services will be in greater demand with the government weā€™ve got and the society they are creating, we are going to need you even more.

ā€œIf this new building helps that to happen more easily for those service users, then thatā€™s absolutely brilliant. Local Solutions is a fantastic charity which has served our community well for nearly fifty years and the new HQ is fantastic.ā€

Councillor Mary Rasmussen said it was a ā€œbittersweet momentā€ to help open the premises as her late daughter Lian once worked for Local Solutions.

She added: ā€œItā€™s not about the building. Itā€™s about all of you.

ā€œThe work you do is absolutely incredible, keep smiling, keep working and keep helping our communities.ā€

Local Solutions are undergoing a major revitalisation as they look to accelerate and expand their work.

The charity improves the health and well-being of the elderly through their domiciliary care provision and provides independence and freedom through their Shopmobility service. In addition Local Solutions provides valuable respite to carers from across the city through their MyTime scheme

They also provide support and accommodation for young people enabling them to develop independence while increasing the safety and security of children through BullyBusters and support victims of domestic abuse through counselling.

Local Solutions are also launching an incredible new ā€˜Power Upā€™ campaign to support young homeless people with the soaring costs of setting up and sustaining their own homes. The campaign will empower young people to succeed in sustaining tenancies and provide support for them in their community, enabling them to be independent, live with dignity and increase the chances of them realising their full potential and succeed in living independently.

Local Solutions Chief Executive Tom Harrison, who was appointed into the position last year having worked with the charity for more than 15 years combining operations and development, said: ā€œIā€™m incredibly proud to have seen Local Solutions move into a new premises that is genuinely going to change the way we work and improve the lives of those we help.

Local Solutions

ā€œIt will allow us to be more collaborative, creative, innovative and flexible – primarily to help people feel empowered and achieve their own goals

ā€œMetro Mayor Steve Rotheram and Lord Mayor of Liverpool Cllr Mary Rasmussen have inspired our incredible staff to carry on their stellar work to empower communities and help people that need it most live fulfilled lives.ā€
