IT’S not just its jewellery that’s set to sparkle!
David M Robinson’s got a shiny new showroom at its flagship Liverpool ONE store, with a brand-new shopping experience and the chance to celebrate all your big events in style.
After a four-month closure, the family-owned jewellery designer and watch retailer that’s been loved in the city for more than 50 years is back open, with an even more luxurious look and a personal experience to rival – if not beat – the very best names in the capital.
“The showroom looks absolutely fabulous, and the team is very much in love with it,” says DMR’s Jamie McFadden. “It’s really exciting.
“It’s been a big project from start to finish – Liverpool is our flagship, it’s our home city, so it’s the big one for us.”
The refurbishment and expansion is DMR’s biggest to date. Developing the original store and moving into former Debenhams’ space, it has introduced VIP spaces, including a private dining room and dedicated bridal suite, as well as a sound-proofed media room for virtual appointments and content creation.
There’s also a dedicated Rolex espace, and larger jewellery and watch workshops for its master goldsmith and watchmaker.
“DMR’s showrooms are more than just a place to make a purchase. They are a space to relax and to entertain. That is the beauty of luxury retail – it’s about friendships and relationships,” adds Jamie.
“Entertaining clients is hugely important to us and in the past, this has always had to be done off-site at partner restaurants and hotels. The new spaces in DMR Liverpool allow us to do that in-house, whether it be lunch in our private dining room, or a cocktail reception in the Champagne Bar.
“The showroom has been designed with clients’ experience in mind. It’s us showing clients that we want to provide the same beautiful diamond jewellery and timepieces as we have been for over 50 years, but we want to elevate the experience.
“When we refurbished our Manchester showroom in 2019 we added a space that we called the Lounge, which was a basement level room with beautiful sofas, a huge TV screen and bar, and it was unique at the time for Manchester. It was something we’d seen other retailers do, certainly in central London, in Bond Street and Sloane Square, but there was no fellow retailer up north offering that.
“These new spaces are equally a unique addition to Liverpool. We recognised that Liverpool is really important to our own story and clients deserved the same level of experience as Bond Street, the same level of exquisite luxury.
“We’ve had proposals on site, we’ve had people coming in for their birthday to collect watches that have been presented in the window with a plaque with their name, and we are now in a position where, if a loyal client wants to celebrate a significant birthday, they can come to collect their watch or piece of jewellery with a couple of friends, go through to the private dining room, and have a glass of Champagne, have that celebration.”
Liverpool is lucky to have generations of the same family who have shopped with DMR for years, Jamie says.
“Clients want great service, but they want it done in a very friendly, approachable way. That is what is unique about DMR and has attracted Liverpool clients since 1969. Our clients are friends and we can’t wait to welcome them in to their new look showroom.”
