10-day Knowsley musical festival announced as part of Borough of Culture year
2 years ago
As part of Knowsley’s celebrations as Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture, a ten-day festival of music has been announced.
Running from Thursday 10 November to Saturday 19 November in venues across the borough, the festival promises to be an eclectic celebration of all types of music.
There will be appearances from some famous faces from Knowsley’s music scene and an opportunity for local up and coming performers showcase their talents.
The music programme is being designed by Liverpool-based music consultant Yaw Owusu who has worked with high profile events and organisations like Universal Records, the MOBOs, MTV and the BBC to name just a few. He is passionate about music and about creating opportunities for the next generation and in particular for under-represented and often unheard music creatives.
He said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be part of Knowsley’s celebrations as the Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture and to be curating such a special musical festival. Music is a part of the fabric of the borough and has influenced the musical landscape more than many would know. We hope to really platform that during the music festival and I am excited to share what we have been working on.”.
The full line up for the festival will be announced in the coming weeks but organisers are keen to stress that they hope there will be something for everyone to enjoy across the borough.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley Council Cabinet Member for Communities & Neighbourhoods said:
“Music is such a brilliant way to bring people together and this festival will be a really fantastic addition to our end of year programme of events. It’s been an amazing year so far for Knowsley and it really would be incomplete if we didn’t take the opportunity to celebrate music too. This borough has been home to so many musical professionals and bands over the years and it will be great to celebrate that – along with also hearing from some of our new and emerging talent. I can’t wait.”
