10 things to do this half term in and around Liverpool City Region

Half term is here already and if you have youngsters you will be looking for ways to keep them occupied while they’re off school.

Here are ten of the best activities taking place across the wider city region.

Knowsley Safari Park

The park is offering half price tickets for kids this half term.

Enjoy the five mile safari drive, seeing some of the most incredible animals from the comfort of your own car. There is also the woodland walk to enjoy and rides in the amusement park.

Children go half price with a full paying adult.

Offer runs from from Saturday 11th – Sunday 26th February 2023.

Enjoy a pony ride at Acorn Farm

Half term activities will be running every day from 11th-19th February as this farm in Kirkby.

There will be small animal petting sessions and horse rides daily. The petting sessions will start at 11am and rides from 1.30pm.

Tickets will be available to buy from the kiosk. There will be a farm experience day on Thursday 16th and there will also be craft sessions and story time with Maria.

The kids can meet Shaun The Sheep and Blitzer the Dog, enjoy the timber adventure maze, and test their football skills among lots of other activities at Farmer Ted’s near Ormskirk.

There will also be the chance to meet the farm animals, enjoy pedal kart racing, toboggan slides – and more.

Go puddle jumping at Martin Mere wetlands

The Puddle Jumping Championships return to Martin Mere wetlands in Burscough, West Lancashire, from 11th-19thFebruary.

Every day from 2:30pm during February half-term, you can join in the fun at the back of Mere Side Cafe. 

There will also be mini rafting, pond dipping and craft sessions.

Enjoy a round of Viking Golf in Southport

The Viking Golf course at Pleasureland in Southport is reopening for the half term holiday.

This Viking themed 18-hole adventure golf course has been designed to provide excitement and varying degrees of difficulty, ensuring that visitors of all ages will enjoy their day.

Adults can play for £10, children for £8 and a family of four for £32.

Get crafty at the Atkinson Theatre

Join The Atkinson’s Art Box for an arts and crafts workshop suitable for all the family. There’s something for all ages, with all materials supplied and all for free. 

Drop-in any time between 11am – 3pm on 16th February and get creative.Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.

Meet Beauty and the Beast

Enjoy the Ballet Theatre UK’s production of Beauty and the Beast at The Atkinson Theatre in Southport on 17thFebruary at 7pm.

Inspired by the original tale, this production tells the story of Belle, a beautiful young woman who feels out of place in the small French village where she lives. When her father is taken into prison, she attempts to rescue him and comes face to face with the beast.

Tickets cost £18 for adults and £15 for concessions, with under 16s going for £10. Book your tickets on the website.

Go to outer space at the Storybarn

Join the Storybarn at Calderstones Park for an exploration into outer space this February half term. 

The youngsters can discover planets, stars and constellations and uncover the mysteries of the universe. There will be space-themed stories to enjoy and the chance to make take-home crafts.

Best suited for children aged four – nine but everyone’s welcome. Under ones can join in for free but will still need to book a ticket.

Enjoy a heart warming time at Eureka Science + Discovery

The kids can learn all about what makes our hearts tick at Eureka this half term.

With Flux Dance getting the heart beating with dance and movement sessions during the weekends, and on Friday, 17th February, to heart related craft sessions on Monday the 13th, there is fun and learning aplenty.

Eureka, in Victoria Place, Wallasey, is open from 10am-5pm every day over half term.

Meet the animals at Tam O’Shanter Urban Farm

Nestled on the side of Bidston Hill, the Tam O’Shanter historic cottage and free urban farm is run by a charitable trust with the aim of providing an enjoyable and educational experience for kids and adults alike.

The farm is open daily from 9.30am.
