Advertorial

There’s nothing more guaranteed to get the conversation flowing than chat around a good cup of coffee – and when it comes to serving the best, the experts at 200 Degrees Coffee know a thing… or several!

The good news is they’re open in Liverpool, transforming a little corner of the Metquarter into a coffee-lover’s paradise, complete with their comfortable interiors, signature food, and loads of lovely twinkly lights.

It sounds like heaven already, but there’s so much more to 200 Degrees, and here’s 7 things you should know…

They know what they’re doing!

200 Degrees is a brand that’s been around for more 10 years, begun by two bar owners who wanted to serve the best cup of coffee to their customers. Their obsession led to three guys creating the perfect brew with one coffee roaster in the corner of a garage. Needless to say they’ve progressed and got it so good they decided to share it with the world – and now it’s arrived in Liverpool.

It runs six barista schools

There’s a science to the art of coffee, and they can teach it. So if you just want to learn how to drink better coffee at home, or make a latte like a seasoned pro, they have seven barista schools in the UK where coffee gurus pass on their knowledge, with courses covering everything from simple home brewing methods, through to how to operate a professional espresso machine and advanced latte art skills.

It’s not just about coffee – there’s a great food menu too

The menu is innovative and tasty, and everything they serve is freshly made throughout the day, from breakfast porridges and delicious pastries to a superb selection of vegan and gluten-free sandwiches, salads and cakes. They even make their own jams and syrups!

You can order its coffee and loads more products online

You’re going to want to get your favourite cup of coffee from 200 Degrees, of course, but if you want to serve yourself a great coffee at home too, then 200 Degrees has got everything you need to do it, from coffee pods and beans – which can be ground to order for espresso, filter, cafetiére or Aeropress, and with subscription deals so you never run out –  to complete home brew kits, coffee machines and super-cool merchandise.

It goes without saying, but the coffee is good!

200 Degrees roast their coffee at a slightly lower temperature than normal – 200 degrees centigrade (hence the name!) – because it yields a smoother, deeper taste, and they serve the coffee at around 200 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it’s just right. And there’s a selection of hand-roasted beans and blends, all ethically sourced, so there’ll always be one to your taste.

Coffee is roasted to order – it never sits around the warehouse getting old

Beans are delivered weekly or even daily to coffee shops to maintain freshness and taste (using fresh beans is one of the key elements to drinking better coffee.) All their coffee is despatched with a ‘roasted on’ date and although it will last longer, drinking it within 3-4 weeks of its roast date is their ideal.

This one might go unnoticed, but you’ll never find a rocky table in any 200 Degrees store

Last, but not least, each table at 200 Degrees has a pneumatic system to make sure it’s solid and sturdy. Well, no-one wants to spill coffee when it’s this good!
