The Lathums announce gig at Bootle’s Salt and Tar music festival
1 year ago
Indie rockers The Lathums will be playing at Bootle’s Salt and Tar’s summer music festival, fresh off their Other Stage Glastonbury debut.
Formed five years ago in Wigan, The Lathums will be filling an extra, specially-created slot on Friday 7th July at the first ever Salt and Tar music Festival.
Sefton’s own Red Rum Club have sold out the Saturday 8th July slot and tickets are selling fast for Cast on Sunday 9th July.
Since their debut album ‘How Beautiful Life Can Be’ reached number one in the UK album charts in 2021, The Lathums have enjoyed a rapid ascent. One live review described them as having ‘perfected the formula for creating all-out bangers and mass adoration’.
Last month Salt and Tar hosted a successful and well-attended Comedy Weekender, which saw a number of popular comedians bring the house down.
Local comedian Chris McCausland, alongside Nina Gilligan and Patrick Monahan opened the weekend to a packed marquee on the Friday night.
Brendan Riley took up the comedy baton on the Saturday, hosting a family-friendly comedy bingo, followed by Disco Bingo later that evening. There were plenty of happy winners in both events, with even more laughs along the way.
Jo Caulfield and Scott Bennett starred on the Sunday before Jason Byrne brought the house down and the curtain down on the weekend.
Hundreds of visitors attended the event across the three days, with tons of positive feedback.
Cllr Marion Atkinson, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills said:
“It was incredible to see how successful the Comedy Weekender at Salt and Tar was.
“It is a testament to the effort and dedication from everyone involved over the last few months.
“This is just the start of what we believe will be a huge boost to Bootle and the Sefton community from Salt and Tar.”
Bren Riley, from Big Comedy UK said:
“Big Comedy UK were delighted to work with Sefton Council on this exciting new project.
“We had fantastic feedback from the audience who came to the shows and all the artists enjoyed performing at the three-day event.
“We hope to be back next year for another Big Comedy Weekender at Salt and Tar.”
The Comedy Weekender will return next year and promises to be bigger and better. The rest of the site is scheduled to open this summer.
