Freshfields Animal Rescue: Happy ending for tiny rescue kitten saved by being kept warm in a bra
1 year ago
Tiny kitten Bee has found a forever home after her life was saved by a quick-thinking rescuer who put the lifeless newborn in her bra to keep her warm.
Bee was discovered abandoned and freezing cold by a kind member of the public, who got in touch with Freshfields Animal Rescue to ask for help.
âThey had just returned from a weekend away and found her outside in the front garden of their house in Ainsdale,â a member of the cattery team explained. âWhen they called Freshfields and asked for advice, we realised she didn’t have long left, so we told them to bring this poorly kitten immediately to the rescue.
âLittle Bee was stone cold when she was admitted and a quick-thinking member of the team popped lifeless Bee in her bra then took her straight to the nearest vets to be treated there.
âWeâre certain that what this staff member did and the urgent trip to the vets where she was given a health check and fluids ultimately saved little Bee’s life.
âBee could have only been a week old when this ordeal happened to her, and we don’t know why or how she was found on her own in that situation, but what we do know that Bee was given the best opportunity to survive when she was brought to us.â
After being saved, Bee was taken in by one of Freshfields fosterers where her personality really began to develop.
âShe was surrounded with so much love and affection in her foster home that she was able to shine and flourish into the little character she is today.â
That was just the start of things looking up for Bee because, at nine weeks old, she was spotted by her adopters who couldnât resist giving her a second chance.
Dave Woodward read about her bra rescue and decided Bee was the kitten he was looking for as a playmate for his older cat Margot.
Physiotherapist Dave, who works at the Walton Centre, was first introduced to Bee by a friend who saw Freshfields social post about her.
âI had two cats and one of them sadly passed away last year so we were looking for an extra one to bring home,â says Dave.
âI was actually on a night out with my partner when one of our friends sent me a link to Freshfields and their post about Bee on their page.
âWe sent an enquiry straight away, followed it up the next morning and then a week later we went and met her.
âFreshfields are really amazing with their animals and full credit to them and the foster team because she was just so boisterous and full of energy, she had no signs of what sheâd been through.â
Since moving in with Dave and his partner in St Helens, Bee has been renamed Bea â short for Beatrice â and has fitted perfectly into her new home.
âSheâs been with us a week and sheâs absolutely fine. She didnât have the best start in life, but to see her now you would never know what had happened to her.â
The Freshfields team couldnât be happier to know that the little kitten who so narrowly escaped death is flourishing at last.
âWe are absolutely thrilled to bits that our miracle kitten has now been rehomed and is about to enjoy her best life with her amazing new adopters.â
