New hotel The Halyard at Ropewalks set to open this February
10 months ago
IHG Hotels & Resorts will introduce its new collection brand to the UK for the first time in late February with the opening of The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool, Vignette Collection.
With an identity anchored in Liverpool’s maritime heritage, the The Halyard at Ropewalks will have 133-bedrooms and marks the inaugural UK opening for Vignette Collection, part of IHG’s growing Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio – now the second largest in the world.
From boutique townhouses in city centres to blissful beachfront resorts with a difference, Vignette Collection offers guests one-of-a-kind stays in destinations to remember.
The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool, Vignette Collection stands on the footprint of former 18th Century rope-making warehouses. The hotel’s industrial interiors pay homage to the area’s dockland heritage, while vibrant, colourful flairs reflect the artists and musicians who gave Liverpool its second wave of global recognition.
Tom Rowntree, Vice President of Luxury & Lifestyle Brands at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said:
“It is a milestone moment to see the first hotel within Vignette Collection open its doors in the UK. This brand gives IHG a compelling way to welcome one-of-a-kind hotels into our family, combining each property’s distinctive identity with the brand’s promise of ‘A Means For Good’, together with the power of IHG’s global scale and our loyalty programme, IHG One Rewards. Every Vignette Collection hotel has a unique identity, and The Halyard Liverpool is no different. We are delighted to welcome the hotel to the Vignette Collection family.”
The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool, Vignette Collection is located on a thoroughfare where once 19th Century rope makers laid out the ropes during production and is just a stone’s throw away from the city’s famous docks.
David Daly, General Manager at The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool, said:
“We are proud to be captaining the ship of IHG’s first Vignette Collection hotel in the UK. The concept of The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool, Vignette Collection was born from a belief that communities are stronger together – twisted, weaved, and intertwined like the rope that once lined the streets on which the hotel stands. Liverpool is a melting pot of opportunity, and we look forward to offering authentic Liverpudlian hospitality to all those who visit us.”
The Halyard’s design echoes the harmonies of its juxtapositions – refined furnishings from the beautifully crafted lobby to the elegant dining environments are inspired by the grandeur of 18th Century mercantile leaders, while the openness of the layout and emphasis on spaces to gather and connect embraces the welcoming spirit and ever-evolving culture of the city.
The hotel’s three bedroom types pay tribute to Liverpool’s creative character, with rooms giving a playful, nostalgic nod to the Liverpudlian toy manufacturer, Meccano. Artworks from local artists hotel adorn its walls, ensuring the Ropewalks’ heritage is front and centre throughout.
The hotel includes a 200-seater restaurant and bar serving up globally inspired dishes, with a menu that is inspired by the cultural influences of the city.
IHG Hotels & Resorts unveiled the Vignette Collection brand in August 2021. The first property Hotel X Brisbane Fortitude Valley, Vignette Collection opened its doors in December that year. Today, there are six properties open around the world and a further 19 hotels in the pipeline. IHG has ambitions to open 100 new Vignette Collection hotels in the next 10 years.
There are several distinct characteristics which make a hotel a true Vignette Collection property. One such hallmark is Memorable Rituals, which celebrate each hotel’s unique identity.
For decades, Liverpool has imported chocolate into the warehouses surrounding the hotel, and still today 90% of the UK’s cocoa beans arrive through the Port of Liverpool. Guests of The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool, Vignette Collection are invited to indulge in a shot of Champurrado, a velvety warm chocolate drink, with the option to infuse with a tot of Liverpool Lost Dock Rum as a nod to the daily rations of sailors’ past.
As part of IHG’s long-term Journey to Tomorrow commitment to care for people, community and planet, each Vignette Collection hotel has its own ‘A Means For Good’ initiative. United by a shared vision to support the communities in which they operate, each property partners with a local non-profit organisation to spearhead positive contribution to the local ecosystem.
The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool, Vignette Collection is proud to announce a partnership with Mytime, a Liverpool-based charity that provides respite to unpaid carers through leisure, culture, and educational activities. Complimentary hospitality experiences donated by The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool, Vignette Collection will offer much deserved down time to restore, revive and rejuvenate carers from Merseyside and beyond.
The latest Vignette Collection opening of The Halyard Liverpool follows Convent Square Lisbon and Casa da Companhia in Porto which both opened in 2023. Further afield, other Vignette Collection properties include Sindhorn Midtown Hotel Bangkok, Th8 Palm Dubai Beach Resort, Yours Truly DC and Hotel X Brisbane Fortitude Valley. There are a further 19 Vignette Collection hotels in the pipeline, including Shanghai Snow World Hotel, Vignette Collection and Verno House Budapest,Vignette Collection which will both also open this year.
