Dead Hot is a compelling and twisty character-driven comedy-thriller set in Liverpool, which explores family, class, love, trauma, and identity.

Set in present day Liverpool, Dead Hot follows twenty-somethings Elliot and Jess are best friends united by a bond of grief at losing Peter – the first and only love of Elliot and Jess’ twin brother.

It’s been five years since Peter went missing in mysterious circumstances, and still reeling from the trauma, the best friends spiral into a hedonistic lifestyle, partying to numb their grief while clinging to a small hope that they will one day find out what happened.

When Elliot meets Will, he starts to think he can put the past behind him. But when Elliot learns Will has his own dark secrets, just as Jess is contacted by somebody claiming to be her brother, it sets into motion a determination for the pair to find out if Elliot’s romantically cursed—or being targeted.

Bilal Hasna (Extraordinary, Layla) and BAFTA-nominated Vivian Oparah (Rye Lane, Then You Run, I May Destroy You) take the helm as protagonists Elliot and Jess, navigating the highs and lows, and complexities of their mid-twenties.

With Penelope Wilton playing Francine, Elliot’s extremely wealthy, traditional and bigoted grandmother (Downton Abbey, After Life) and Peter Serafinowicz (The School for Good and Evil, The Tick) playing Detective Chief Inspector Danny also starring in this stellar cast.

Creator and writer Charlotte Coben said:

“I have a particular tone of voice that I write in, and I have never felt it be represented so accurately thanks to Sam Arbor (Director of eps 1-3), Laurie Kirkham (Producer) and the rest of the team. The series is a little bat sh*t for sure and I hope people enjoy it – it’s a lot of fun!”

Executive Producer Nicola Shindler said:

“Dead Hot is a rollercoaster, there are so many stories and so many hooks that the audience won’t be expecting. I hope people fall in love with these characters as much as we have.”

Bilal Hasna who plays Elliot, said:

“The show is about grief ultimately but rendered through a crazy, colourful, camp, hyper poppy world that Charlotte has written. It’s a joy to be a part of and can’t wait for people to see it!”

Vivian Oparah who plays Jess, said:

“The scripts had me hooked from the beginning and that’s what I was drawn to. It had friendship at its heart. It’s a crazy zany world and I hope everyone enjoys it.”
