Registration now open for annual March With Pride in 2024
10 months ago
Liverpool’s LGBTQ+ community is set to come together once again for the annual March With Pride, a weekend of celebration and advocacy expected to draw tens of thousands of participants.
Organised by Liverpool City Region’s LGBT+ charity, LCR Pride Foundation, March With Pride is a key event within the larger Pride in Liverpool festivities, scheduled for July 27, 2024.
Last year, the march saw a record-breaking turnout of 20,000 people, reflecting a growing momentum in the local community.
Held in solidarity with KyivPride to support Ukraine, the theme “Shout It Loud” encouraged LGBTQ+ individuals to take pride in their identities and raise their voices.
The planned route for this year’s march will commence at St. George’s Hall Plateau at noon, traversing through the city centre and the Pride Quarter before culminating at Liverpool’s iconic waterfront.
LCR Pride Foundation extends an open invitation to LGBTQ+ individuals, allies, organisations, and community groups to join the march. Registration is now open on the Pride in Liverpool website.
Andi Herring, CEO of LCR Pride Foundation, said:
“March With Pride continues to grow each year and this year promises to be no different. We look forward to welcoming thousands of LGBT+ people and allies to the city for what is looking to be our biggest year yet.
“Not only is it a chance for Liverpool City Region’s LGBT+ people to come together to celebrate one another, but it also gives us the opportunity to protest against the prejudices and inequalities that our communities face.
“In the last year, LGBT+ people and particularly trans members of our community have been attacked and undermined. However, we refuse to be silenced and our voices need to be heard more than ever before. This is our time to stand up and peacefully demonstrate that we are united against all forms of hate, discrimination and oppression.”
Beyond celebration, the event holds significant meaning as a platform to address the challenges and injustices faced by LGBTQ+ communities.
