Advertorial
The summer holidays are finally here and Calderstones Beach & Fun Fair is back, so grab your sunnies and have some seaside fun every day until September.
This is the 10th year it’s been in Calderstones Park in south Liverpool, giving families the chance to enjoy a day playing on the sand and enjoying fun fair rides without having to head to the coast.
Calderstones Beach and Fun Fair attracts visitors from right across the city and it offers bookable autism and disability friendly sessions too on Wednesdays.
If you’re planning a trip with the kids, here’s everything you need to know …
When is it on?
Calderstones Beach & Fun Fair is at Calderstones Park – right by the children’s play area in front of the Mansion – from now until Sunday September 1, between 11am and 5.30pm each day. It’s a secure fenced off environment with one entrance and one exit which is gated, and there’s no need to book, just turn up on the day and you can buy tokens for rides on site.
What age is it suitable for and what are the attractions?
Organisers suggest from toddler to around 12, so it’s ideal if you’ve got children of different ages. The big beach and decked area is 20m x 15m meaning there’s plenty of room for kids to play in the sand while parents and grandparents watch from deckchairs on the sidelines. There are also 11 rides to choose from, including new additions for 2024.
What are the main rides?
The fun fair has three bigger rides as well as the smaller ones so there’s a good mix for families. Hot Rod Dodgems is a brand new ride this year, and two favourites are back – the three-deck Fun House which is one of the star attractions at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, and the Runaway Train rollercoaster. There are new inflatables, a bouncy castle and giant bouncy slide, plus traditional hook a duck stall and lots of photo opportunities around the site.
And there’s a free disco
Kids can get up and show off their dance moves with Boogie Barry who’ll be hosting a free disco every Tuesday and Thursday between 1pm and 3pm. He’ll also be joined by a regularly changing cast of characters at each session.
How much does it cost?
Entry to the Beach & Fun Fair is £1 each, so if kids want to just play on the sand that’s all it costs. Every ride is one token and there are two saver deals available: a daily special which gives you 10 ride tokens for £25 and a super saver which is 30 rides for £60. Both can be split between more than one family or a group of children and there’s no time limit so you could use some on one day and then come back and use the remaining tokens on another day or days later in the summer.
What about food?
If you want to get something to eat while you’re at Calderstones Beach & Fun Fair, head to the beach huts where you’ll find tasty fast food including loaded fries, nachos and hotdogs, children’s hotdogs and chicken nuggets, and doughnuts with Nutella or Biscoff.Advanced tickets aren’t required for daily sessions, but you will need to book for autism and disability friendly ones to make sure they don’t get too crowded.
