A 24 hour Powersports event is taking place to help raise money for three Liverpool Charities

A ‘Powersports for 24 hours’ charity event is set to take place this summer to help three Liverpool charities.

The exhilarating event will be held in aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice, Greenbank Sports Academy and GB Power Hockey Association.

Featuring continuous powersports activities for a full 24 hours, the fundraiser will help disabled people across the North West.

Organiser Liam Ashton, who has been supported by Claire House for the past 12 years, said the event is not just about the thrill of powersports but also about bringing the community together for worthy causes.

Liam, 20, from Liverpool said:

“I’m a wheelchair user, therefore I play power hockey and power football, wheelchair hockey and football.

“This fundraising event is amazing for powersports as we can raise vital funds to run my sports. And it’s especially important because it supports two other incredible charities as well.”

Power Sports Event for Claire House

Liam attends the young adults social group at Claire House, a charity that helps seriously and terminally ill children and young adults.

“Claire House has given me so much confidence. It’s played a massive part in me feeling comfortable enough to go to university, move out of home and make friends and try new things.

“So, this fundraiser will be a fun way to give something back to my local community, help other disabled people and to get others involved too.”

Cora Shafto, Community Engagement Manager, said:

“Claire House is extremely proud of Liam for creating such a fantastic event to raise awareness and funds for local charities.

“It’s been wonderful to learn more about powersports and we can’t wait to be involved and help support Liam in this brilliant event.”

The 24 hour powersports event will take place on August 9 and 10 from 5pm to 5pm at Greenbank Sports Academy in Liverpool.

Anyone wanting to take part must sign up in advance. Spectators are welcome (suggested donation £2 to watch).
