Merseyside Fire and Rescue are raising money for Zoe’s Place with car washes this weekend

Merseyside Fire and Rescue are joining the bid to save Zoe’s Place this weekend, by hosting a car washing event at three of its stations across the region, as well as Tesco in Old Swan.

If ever there was a reason to keep your car clean, this has got to be it! Merseyside Fire and Rescue have got their sponges and hoses at the ready and will be waiting to make people’s Skodas sparkle and their Golfs gleam! And all funds raised will be divided between two great organisations, Zoe’s Place and its own Fire Fighters Charity.

Crosby Station manager Gerry Davis says:

“Like many across Merseyside and further afield, people across the Service want to do something to assist with the current position Zoe’s Place is in.

“The hospice does the most amazing work for families who find themselves in the worst possible situation, and we have an affinity with the compassion and the urge to protect and support people at their most vulnerable.”

“We have a long standing agreement that some of the proceeds of our charity car washes will go to the Fire Fighters Charity but we really want to help Zoe’s Place as well, so we will be giving as much as we can of the proceeds to Zoe’s Place in the hope of saving the hospice and their vital work in supporting children and families.

“It would be great if we can get as big a turn out as possible.”

Merseyside Fire and Rescue raise money for Zoe's Place

Zoe’s Place has revealed it’s raised £2.8 million of the £5 million it needs to collect to continue its vital work supporting babies and young children who have complex illnesses or disabilities from birth to age five.

The city’s business leaders and politicians this week unveiled plans to create Zoe’s Place 2.0, with a new charity run by the city, for the city – but it still urgently needs to raise more money.

The Firefighters Charity works to help all serving and retired members of the UK’s fire family to ‘live healthier and happier’.

It offers physical and mental health support, online courses, social wellbeing, and more to working and retired members of staff.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue says they’d love people to ‘come down to say hello to the crews and get your car washed for two great causes’.

The car washes will be taking place this Sunday, October 27, at the following stations:

Crosby Community Fire Station at 5A Crosby Rd N, Waterloo, L22 0LA between 12-4pm

Aintree Community Fire Station, 100B Long Ln, Aintree, Liverpool L9 7BL between 11am-4pm

St Helens Community Fire Station, Violet Way, St Helens, WA9 1HW from 11am to 4pm.

Firefighters will be at Tesco in Prescot Road, Old Swan, L13 2BY between 1-4pm.
