April is shaping up to be a great month for live music.
From grunge to pop, with Manchester icons and some local indie in-between, there is something for every musical taste.
Here is our pick of eight live acts to catch in April.
False Reality, Future Yard, Birkenhead, 3rd April

The London band fuse UK beatdown with NYC hardcore, thrash, metal and grunge.
Expect tracks from debut album Faded Intentions, bringing their unique energy to the Birkenhead venue.

Brooke Combe, O2 Academy, 10th April

The soulful singer might be from Glasgow but she has made Liverpool her home and work base so this is practically a hometown gig for her.
Combe combines gorgeous tunes, very personal lyrics and kickass personality, making her live shows a must see.
She is a star in the making, and this is one not to be missed.

James, M&S Bank Arena, 11th April

With hits like Sit Down, She’s a Star and Laid, James were one of the biggest bands of the late 1900s and early 00s.
They still have the energy, and definitely the hits, as well as some brilliant new music.
Joining them as special guests are Doves, another iconic Manchester band who will bring big tunes like There Goes the Fear and Black and White Town.

Skye Newman, Mountford Hall, 11th April

With two Brit nominations and 7.5 million YouTube views, there’s no doubt Skye Newman is a star in the making.
Catch her clever brand of pop and soulful voice in the relative intimate surroundings of Mountford Hall before she starts playing bigger venues.

YUNGBLUD, M&S Bank Arena, 12th April

The Idols Tour sees YUNGBLUD return with a personal and ambitious collection of new songs as well as a back catalogue that has seen him earn six billion Spotify streams.
Expect modern rock opera sounds in a powerful live show that is not to be missed.

Rick Astley, M&S Bank Arena, 16th April

He burst onto the scene in the 1980s as part of the Stock, Aitken and Waterman hit machine and celebrates his 60th birthday this year.
Rick Astley brings his reflection tour to Liverpool as he continues to enjoy a glorious revival to his hugely successful career.
With great songs, a brilliant stage presence and one of the most likeable personalities in pop, Astley is sure to put on a brilliant show for all ages.
He is supported by the brilliant Gabrielle, so get their early and enjoy the perfect warm up to the main event.

Seb Lowe, O2 Academy, 18th April
Seb Lowe and his band bring singalong tunes and outspoken commentary to Liverpool as part of his latest tour.
The Manchester singer combines witty lyrics, great vocals and indie vibes. Loyal fans and newbies alike are in for a treat at this Liverpool date.

The Kowloons, Arts Club, 24th April

The local four piece bring their indie tunes to the Arts Club for a home coming gig in April.
They grew up listening to the La’s and Echo and the Bunnymen at home and after a lads holiday decided to get together and create their own sound.
Catch them at the Arts Club before another big Liverpool date in the summer, as part of the bill for the big Red Rum Club night on the waterfront at the Pier Head.
