Ullet Road Church
FACT is spreading the love with a special Valentine’s Weekend of cinema at Ullet Road Church in Sefton Park.
Cinema in the City is a pop-up film experience featuring a selection of romantic and thought- provoking films inspired by the wedding tradition of ‘something old, something new, something
borrowed, something blue’.
The films start on Valentine’s Day itself, Friday, February 14, with the cult classic Harold and Maude which starts at 7pm.
Harold and Maude – certificate 15 – explores an unconventional romance between a death-obsessed young man and a vibrant 79-year-old woman, challenging societal norms with its darkly comedic tale of unexpected connection.
Other films to be shown are:
- Bones and All (18) on Saturday, February 15 at 3pm
Adapted from Camille DeAngelis’ acclaimed novel, it stars Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell in a
haunting love story that blends romance with a psychological thriller. - Solo – Saturday, February 15: 7pm
A chance to see this ahead of its release, FACT’s exclusive preview of SOLO tells the story of Simon, a
rising star of Montreal’s drag queen scene dealing with two impossible loves, a passionate yet
destructive romance, and a difficult relationship with his mother who’s just returned after a 15-year
absence. - The Blue Caftan (12) on Sunday, February 16: 7pm
Completing the weekend, The Blue Caftan offers a nuanced Moroccan love story about a master
tailor, his wife, and a young apprentice, delicately exploring themes of love, acceptance, and hidden
desires. The film has never been shown before in Liverpool.
Each screening will begin with a short film by a local filmmaker, showcasing the best emerging talent
from the North West.
And there’ll be food and drink. Family-run Dove and Olive will run the bar throughout the weekend
and Scottabocca Pizza will serve freshly-fired slices on Friday (more food offerings have yet to be
announced).
Tickets are £8-10, available from FACT
