Advertorial

Weightmans is one of the UK’s most respected and award-winning law firms in the UK, with offices across the country and its headquarters – where 700 people are based – in Old Hall Street, Liverpool.
Weightmans has been voted Liverpool BID Company’s Business of the Month for March.
Martin English, partner and Liverpool office head, says:
“We are very grateful to be named Business of the Month. We are a national law firm, but we have a very strong presence and long-established roots here in Liverpool.
“We are proud of the culture and positive vibe in our office, thanks to the hard work of our people and those who volunteer their time to make Liverpool a better place.”
Weightmans’ vision is to be a top 30 law firm (it’s currently top 40) and in 2024 it made great strides in reaching that goal, reporting its best financial figures ever and achieving several awards for its ambition to be one of the UK’s most socially and environmentally conscious law firms.
So here’s 6 reasons why Weightmans is BID’s Business of the Month
See the Possibility/Top Employer

Weightmans’ purpose is to See the Possibility… in its people, clients and business. Seeing the possibility in its people underpins everything it does, creating a culture of high performance, and developing its future leaders – no matter where they are from or their background.
In January 2025 Weightmans was awarded Top Employer status for the 18th time, with a top five ranking by global body Top Employers Institute which recognises and celebrates outstanding workplace environments.
Everton in the Community

Weightmans has a partnership with local charity Everton in the Community, supporting the most vulnerable and underprivileged members of our community. Since launching in January 2023, more than 100 young people from across EitC’s Secondary Education Pathways programme have competed for a place on the firm’s Internship into Law programme, with 15 participants securing themselves an internship with the law firm to date.
Pathways to Partnership

Organised by Weightmans’ trainees and apprentices, the Pathways to Partnership initiative aims to inspire fellow law students. At the first event, students from Liverpool John Moores University and University of Liverpool were treated to a panel Q&A involving some of the firm’s partners who discussed their individual career journeys to partnership, and the skills needed for success.
Clatterbridge Cancer Charity

The current Liverpool office charity is Clatterbridge Cancer Charity which provides exceptional cancer care, pioneering research, and vital support for patients and families. In 2024 Weightmans celebrated record-breaking fundraising for the charity – reaching a milestone of £50,000 raised.
DE&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion)

Weightmans is passionate about DE&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) – and there is a thriving scene in the Liverpool office. Some of the events and activities it gets involved in include International Women’s Day, Liverpool Pride, and the Liverpool Legal Walk.
Apprenticeship Academy

Weightmans became the first law firm in the country to offer level four higher legal apprenticeships. In 2024 its Apprenticeship Academy welcomed its biggest ever number of trainees and apprentices (87!), and it also won Best Apprenticeship in Professional Services Award at the Apprenticeship Guide Awards 2024.
