First-Ever Southport Beer Week set to celebrate local pubs and breweries
4 hours ago

Southport is preparing to welcome visitors for its first-ever Beer Week, taking place from Thursday 22nd May to Sunday 25th May 2025.
The town-wide celebration will showcase the region’s rich pub culture and independent brewing scene, with more than 20 participating venues, over 80 unique beers, and a programme of events designed to appeal to beer enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.
Organised by Southport BID in collaboration with local venues and Southport Pubwatch, the event aims to boost footfall in the town centre while offering a vibrant, community-driven experience for residents and tourists. From ale trails and tap takeovers to live music and street food, the festival is set to become a key date in the North West’s cultural calendar.

One of the festival’s headline features is the Southport Beer Week Ale Trail, offering participants the chance to explore a selection of local pubs and bars. Attendees can collect trail booklets from participating venues and, after receiving stamps from seven different locations, become eligible to win a £250 voucher to spend at a Southport town centre business of their choice. Additional runner-up prizes will include beers from local breweries and contributions from other independent traders.
The event promises an extensive selection of beers from regional favourites and craft producers. Participating venues will host special features, including:
- Tap & Bottles, which will present a meet-the-brewer event with Bootle-based Colbier Brewery on Thursday, followed by a Rivington Brewery tap takeover on Saturday.
- The Masons Arms, showcasing a curated selection of ales from the well-known Titanic Brewery.
- The Sir Henry Segrave, which will run a “Dark vs Light” mini beer festival featuring four exclusive dark beers and four lighter options.
- Southport Brewery, which has created a limited-edition Southport Beer Week Bitter, available throughout the weekend.

In addition to tastings, several venues will host bespoke events. These include a beer-themed pub quiz at The Guest House on Thursday evening, and a sold-out guided heritage walk on Saturday 24th May, titled Lost & Old Pubs of Southport, led by local historian David Walshe. The Windmill will hold a garden BBQ, while The Fool will host a craft beer-focused event titled Brewtopia.
The festival also offers an opportunity for visitors to explore some of Southport’s lesser-known hospitality venues. Bold Street, for example, is home to several new and vibrant establishments, while The Engine Room, located within Wayfarers Arcade, will feature a range of beers from Neptune Brewery. Throughout the weekend, Kokomo and The Grazing Lounge will provide street food offerings.
Live music will feature prominently across the four days, with performances taking place at venues including The Masons Arms (which will be hosting live music for the first time), The Fool, Kokomo, Punch Tarmeys, and The Southport Coaster.
The creative identity of Southport Beer Week has been developed by local illustrator Ruth Ryder, also known as Ruthie Illustrations, adding a distinctive community-focused aesthetic to the branding.
