‘Something About Lennon’ brings John Lennon’s story home to Merseyside
7 hours ago

A brand new stage production celebrating the life and music of John Lennon is set to arrive on Merseyside next week, with performances at three key regional venues as part of its inaugural 26-date UK tour.
‘Something About Lennon – The John Lennon Story’, presented by Something About Productions, will take to the stage at St Helens Theatre Royal on Tuesday 27 May, followed by Floral Pavilion, New Brighton on Wednesday 28 May, and The Atkinson in Southport for two performances on Saturday 31 May.
As an added highlight for fans, a free preview event will be held at the Fab4 Café at The Beatles Story, Royal Albert Dock, on Saturday 24 May at 1:30pm. This exclusive performance will feature Daniel Taylor, the show’s star and co-producer, alongside writer and co-producer Jon Fellowes, offering audiences an intimate musical insight into the production.

West End performer and musician Daniel Taylor leads the cast, delivering a compelling portrayal of Lennon through narration and live performance, backed by a talented five-piece band: Joe Smithson (Musical Director, Guitar, Vocals), Callum Macmillan (Drums), Jesse Eigen (Bass, Vocals), and James Breckon (Keyboards, Vocals).
Unlike traditional tribute shows, Something About Lennon offers an honest, authentic journey through Lennon’s complex life – from the post-Beatles years and political activism to his tragic death in 1980. The soundtrack spans Lennon’s solo classics including Imagine, Woman, and Instant Karma, while also paying homage to his Beatles legacy with a selection of Fab Four favourites.
The show concludes its UK tour with a highly anticipated finale at Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre on Sunday 6 July. In response to overwhelming demand, organisers have added a special matinee performance that day, with the evening show followed by a closing party in the theatre’s newly refurbished bar, featuring special entertainment.
Daniel Taylor, a graduate of the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, has previously portrayed Lennon in the acclaimed Lennon Through a Glass Onion. His distinguished stage career also includes leading roles in Blood Brothers, By The Waters Of Liverpool, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream in New York’s Central Park.

Co-producer Bill Elms says:
“Our 26-date UK tour is now underway and has received fantastic feedback from audiences in Wales and Scotland for the first few shows. But Merseyside is where Something About Lennon was created, and our audiences are the best, so we’re excited to play four venues here as part of the tour.
“We’re thrilled that ticket demand has been so high for our closing date at the Epstein that we’ve added a matinee performance. It’s a real testament to the enduring impact of Lennon’s legacy here in his hometown.”
Something About Lennon is co-produced by Bill Elms, Jon Fellowes, and Gary Edward Jones, with support from official partner The Beatles Story.
